They are highly beneficial. They clean up leftover food in the small crevices of the live rock.

Thanks for the links. Not sure yet what it is, as the nudi aren't flat like the citrina. Will keep looking... They reproduced like crazy and I haven't seen any major deterioration of corals yet...

just put in the live rock and sand, so it's still cloudy to see but I did notice this big guy. some sort of crab? about the size of a zippo lighter i believe. should I try to catch him and put in sump?

Absolutely. When in doubt toss it in the sump.

Found this snail while out on the boat. Can anyone ID it? It has a hard flap that protects itself once it goes inside the shell. Good or bad?

Question

Hitch Hiker.jpg

Hitch Hiker. Grew to the size of a button. Two weeks later. Now there are 3. Looks very nice but, i'm leaning towards bad. This is i believe an Anemone correct? They have a green florescence.

It's a Banded Tulip. They eat clams and other snails. They are very attractive, but you just about need to keep them in a species tank and catch snails to feed them, since they'll eat any snails you have in your cleanup crew.

Cheers,

Don

Any ideas?

Those little reddish nudibranchs are Vayssierea felis. They feed only on spirorbid worms, the little white spirals that you find on your rockwork and glass. I'm sure there are lots of people who wish they had them.

Cheers,

Don

I have this rock in my QT tank with a coral that was given to me on it. It started with a ton of these white hairs barely sticking out of the rock, but they're growing quite a bit. Are they something to worry 'bout?
Thanks!
Andrew

Any idea what the thing to the lower left of the snail is. About the size of a nickel, growing on the sand. Does not appear to move. Sponge or something else? Good or bad?

Thanks, ZB

Is it hard or soft? It almost looks like a piece broke off from an orange Montipora Capricornis.
