Thinking about moving both my rw-15s to the same side

I’ve been watching vids of waves like this:

https://youtu.be/Zbm0LGFyb-U

After watching how these look I’ve been considering putting both RW-15s on one side of the tank, and running them together at 100% every 10 seconds or so.

Blast them both for a few seconds, wait 10 or so seconds and then blast again.

Opinion? Might seem more like a wave crashing over everything.

A gyre type of pump might work better for that. Regular nozzle pumps generate a very streamlined flow and create a dead zone infront of the pump.

I don’t have a gyre pump. Trying to work with what I have.

My issue is detritus buildup on my rocks simply because after all these years I can’t ever find where to put the powerheads.

Seems like I change them constantly because I’m never satisfied with the results. I always end up with significant detritus on the sand bed and rocks. Makes everything look fuzzy.

If I turn the flow up enough that nothing seems to settle it just beats the daylights out of the euphillia. Turn it down to where the euphillia seems happy and I get detritus buildup.

I’ve always wanted to build one of these

Detritus happens. No matter what flow pattern you pick, when you change it you’ll see crud stirred up. Then you’ll think, “ oh man, I’ve had the wrong flow all along”. Truth is. It just settles elsewhere.

I’m not so sure there is such a thing as no detritus settling, in a tank. Or even in the ocean for that matter. I think it just comes down to a balance really. The break down of the crud must match your export to stay flat or level in the nutrient game. Obviously you can be on the extreme one way or the other also.

You gotta find that edge/balance, then just bump it one way or the other to keep it on that edge. Some bumps take weeks to see, and some other bumps. Are more forceful, showing results more quickly.

I know this is stuff you already know. Sometimes though, it’s hard to to see ourselves and a quick chat brings it forward.

Thanks man that helps.

You know I’ve thought of something like that, but instead of using a drive from the top, just using a magnet on the outside to move it up and down like a slow fan.
