LEDs have been up for 3 weeks, im tracking color of my pinks....under the illumina they were gone in a week or so, so im hoping these are ok

Just a quick overview of some testing I did last night, these were on a fixed jig for the readings.

ATI - Powermodule 8x54w (3b, 3KZ NG, 1FP, 1 A+)
Mitras - all LED 100%
Radion - all LED 100%

Mitras against ATI (ATI is the thin line)

Mitras against the Radion (Radion is the thin line)

Rodneyri,

Can you please post an updated picture on the condition of your corals. I"m waiting on your results to see if I want to take the plunge. Great tank by the way!

I am REALLY looking forward to seeing the progress with the GHL Mitras.

I currently run EcoTech Radions and I am having a hard time getting good coloration.

Any updated pics on these? I'm literally about to buy them right now. I know it's early and you just recently put them over your tank, but would you recommend them? Everything that I have read on these looks amazing and makes me ready to pull the plug, but the well known issues with leds is what's holding me back. Help! lol

Many thanks for posting the photos.

I know its only been 6 weeks, but compared to your T5's:

1.How would you rate the Mitras in terms of SPS colour?

2. How good is the coral flourescence under the hyperviolets? -either with the HV's on their own and in conjunction with the other channels?

you will really like these light MeanGreenEyes remember to post up some pics when you get them!

Sahin, I dont like to rate lights so early on but I am honestly over the moon with the results im seeing so far, ive not lost a coral or and color loss with the change over from T5. Fellow aquarists that have seen my tank had commented on how good the LED looks and my bro, a T5 fan, is talking about changing to this one...he didnt like my illumina. The output of the light is fantastic, ive got it set to give me a rough phoenix 14k look that i ran in my giesemann light. Reds and pinks are still popping too!

with the HV on by themselves the flourescence is noticable, really pop the corals and the rest of the tank is dark...its a nice effect. when other lights are on its hard to see the HV its subtle, turn them off and you notice a layer of color missing from the corals and fish.

we always talk about corals, i have to add that my fish look amazing under this light too, the illumina dulled them out a bit.

i would give one a go if you got the cash to play with.

Very nice setup, Those dark blues are amazing. You should try emerald crabs for the bubble algae they have done a great job for me

rodney, in your estimation, what is the effective, useable spread of light from a mitra?
i mean, if you wanted to keep sps everywhere in your tank, maybe low light sps near the bottom and high light sps at the top, but still all sps, what is the area that one mitra could comfortably cover?
Im wondering because my next tank will be 51 inches long, 32 inches from back to front and 26 inches high.
it'll be strictly sps.
im not looking to just get away with enough light, i want to have light to spare..
i assume i would have to either run the mitras perpendicular to the tank to spread the light out from back to front, or use more and run them parallel.
im not sure if 3 mitras perpendicular to the tank or 4 of them, in two rows, running parallel to the tank would be better
what do you think?
thanks in advance!

Thanks aqua digital... I'll be putting in an order soon.
Those latest photos answered my psycho questioning perfectly!
I'll probably go with 3 and mount them the same way as Rodney as my dimensions are almost exactly the same...
In another led light related thread, the discussion has shifted, lately, away from the awesomeness of the light and more towards dealing with coral colour changes.
I'm very encouraged to see that Rodney's corals continue to look absolutely perfect under the mitras...

Go for three Matt, gives you the ability to put corals where you want in the tank and not have to worry too much about placement
