LED for 57 Deep Blue Rimless

I am starting a 36 inch 57 Rimless. I am very picky on lighting, but don't have the budget for picky. Will the 32 in SB reef light give me full coverage ? I don't like the dark blue light I see with a lot of LED will I be able to get more of a 15 20K look to it ? will it be able to grow anything. Or will I be better off going with 2 of the 16 in models ?
Thanks
Frank

What kind of coral do you plan on growing?

okay , let me re phrase the question.

Will a 32 inch SB reef light give me full coverage on a 36 in wide tank? with full coverage all the way to both ends of the tank ?

If going for a mixed reef, I think a 32” SB fixture should be fine. Just elevate the fixture and adjust the channel intensities accordingly to get the spread and color that you want. I’ve been working on setting up the same tank. However I will be growing 100% acropora, so I’m going with a 36” 6 bulb ATI Sunpower T5 fixture with an XHO Blue Reefbrite strip.

thanks LQT. I just want to make sure the spread is wide enough without losing to much par by hanging it high enough to get the spread. FYI I bought the 57 not reef ready and my LFS drilled it for returns and an Eshopps overflow. I cant wait to get this tank set up. http://www.eshopps.com/products/over...xes/eclipse-s/

That's a great call! I did the same. I wasn't a big fan of the gigantic center overflow of the reef ready version of the 57, so I got the non reef ready version of that tank and drilled it myself for a Modular Marine ghost style overflow. I'm currently working on finishing up the stand so I could finally get this thing wet!

Looks Awesome !
I am re conditioning a stand from an old Oceanic tech tank to use. 4ft long so everything will fit and I wont have to use small anything. using the large oceanic sump and have a 10 gal container for evaporation tank. all under the stand. I don't have the wood working skills or time to build a stand like that ! Nice work!

Thanks! I’ve been working on this forever it seems, but I finally feel like I’m actually getting somewhere with this build.

It is, but the tank is not going in there. That is a spare bedroom where I get to build things and store gear.

I think if you don’t have a budget, how about two ai hydra26hd? Plus it would look better with the ai setup, you won’t have a big light going across the whole tank? Plus then you can keep what ever you want and if one light goes out you have one as an option to keep things going until it’s repair.

Hey Frank haven't seen you around for awhile. If you can swing it the AI Hydra HD's are very nice, I get a good shimmer with a nice white with a slight amount of blue. The two overflows that you and LQT are using are really nice, I unfortunately used the Aqua IN>Out on my nano tank.
