My 8.5-gallon 360-view LED Hexagon is back on
I made a few modifications to my tank after the move. Now it's a bit shorter. I should take a pic during the day otherwise even my camera's custom white balance selection screws us the colors.

Thank you. I was actually surprised that the conversion took about a few hours. It probably was b/c I had many pictures of how my live rock was originally organized and everything 'fell' into place the first time.
I took some pictures during day time and they look so much better. http://picasaweb.google.com/aletik/Ghf65547f7788g# I will call my friend and try to get more zoas and some fragments as I lost a few when everything was sitting in Ikea box for months and lighting schedule was a mess/ non existent. Buying coral and zoas in New York is very expensive. Yes, I have to move all cables under the stand. I have two small clowns and thinking about getting 2 tiny blue chromis fish. I would love to get your advice? Since they are a grouping fish I guess getting one will be bad idea ??? My setup also looks and works like the one ninjafish used to have. Here is the link and video. The only tiny difference is that I have LED and he has a MicroTron A pump to keep the water level super accurate. Once I get this pump ($200-250), I will be able to leave my tank unattended for weeks/month. Here is the video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SS8oSnBdCxU and the link: http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/sh....php?t=1071230 Last edited by letik; 05/21/2010 at 11:32 AM. |

Damn, just came back from Petco, tried to get some hermits and snails, they are all freking dead there (3 tanks full of them). Two tanks have ick. Baby lionfish is all shaking as if someone is zapping it with low current. Poor parrots look very sad.
Will have to stop by the local LSF next week. |

The fixture is PFO Galileo I9 48W. Unfortunately, not in production anymore. I was lucky to grab only one listed on ebay new for $200. If you can find it, grab it. Its very nice/bright. It has night light built-in.
I bet you never checked the links I posted if you're asking about the fuge. Check the first link in this thread and Ninjafish video link I posted. I use modified eheim as a fuge - my system is closed circle. I haven't had any problems two years i'm using it. I clean the filter once in two/three weeks and dump half of the chaeto. http://picasaweb.google.com/aletik/H...39653448241586 Last edited by letik; 05/22/2010 at 04:24 PM. |

My two clowns are very happy today, were not happy last two days. Probably got unused to lots of light or/and ate too much.
I want to get 2 tiny blue-green chromis, do you guys think it's a good idea? Then I'll have: 2 small clowns 2 small chromis and it will positively be max for this tank! Its cool that you found that old link. It actually have detailed pictures of what i have in my filter.. http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/sh....php?t=1622217 Neon goby i had in my old thread died/got killed though. He was getting sucked into the filter b/c he liked to play on the intake and living where my chaeto is for months. I think that two emerald crabs I had in my chaeto cooked him for dinner/ played hide and seek. You can get eheim on Ebay and that is exactly what I did. The problem i see in my setup is that if the filter dies(i have it for 5 years), I will not hear/know a thing because setup makes absolutely no sound and the current from the filter is quite wide. I feel like the 2 chromis would be a great/final addition to the tank lol.

1. Very nice and clean tank. You should be proud of it.
2. I remember ninja’s tank from years ago and forgot I made a post in it between the “discussion” DS and NJ's views about rubble. I asked a question but never got much of an answer to it. 3. I looked but missed this but where did you get your submersible light at for growing cheato? Thanks. |

I'm glad you found the link. You can also search on yahoo/google for 5W fountain lights and maybe find them for less...
I took the pic of the tank sunday morning lights are still off. My water level is about 2-3mm from the edge and when the night mode kicks in it looks like zeroedge tank. My two clowns are constantly spying on me and swimming sideways on the surface and making their heads stick out of the water in the morning asking for food... they are like two little dogs. I also checked water parameters two days ago and they were very good. |

Very interesting tank. What are you using to light your fuge?
I have a similar designed 2.7 gallon vase tank using a canister filter on my desk at home. I even added lights inside the canister filter. curvilinear II_the Pico.Reef < . . .

Alifer, I saw your tank and the question. All the answers are in this thread. Check the links it's all here..!
It looks like you're messing with your tank a lot and there is some kind of bucket underneath it. Koralia Nano for example has a magnetic attachment and will be fine on the side of your tank. Also, instead of drilling the cylinder in the middle, I would go more to the side so you can position your rocks in the middle. In my opinion, for small tanks like we have it's nice to have a very clean look and hide all tubing as much as possible.. |

Very cool! You haven't had any issues with the fish splashing the water over the top?

Are you concerned about your fish going for a walk?

Nope. My clowns behave very smart. They swim sideways in the morning begging for food and partly stick their heads out when I bend over the tank to take a look. They never jumped.
I'm thinking to add two tiny chromis. These may probably jump, but I'll see. It looks like a 'cube' of water when the night mode when one of the koralias is off. |

What about cardinal fish instead? Long spine or one of the other.
They don't fight and are pretty calm fish. |

I checked the cardinal fish. It's nice looking but I guess doesn't have much character. Plus it's like $14 per head. Chromis is about $3-$4. Shrimps are out of the question... each is like $20-$30.
I have so many hobbies that I want to save as much as possible. For example to fix my two cool windsurfing sails I need to spend $45 in materials. I'll literally have two 2009 model sails fixed for wave sailing(pure fun) or buy 1.5 shrimps, it doesn't even begin compare. You see how dangerous is to have many hobbies. Here is what windsurfing and sails look like / what i do http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GcLWfHlGrek I promise to look at cardinals though when I see them in person.. I can see that my clowns can kick chromis for a few days and then sign a cease fire agreement. They are very peaceful fish Last edited by letik; 06/03/2010 at 02:16 PM. |

After much searching I found your fuge light info in a link in your old thread, which turns out to be the same underwater lights I have installed my Fluval 305 canister. I originally did a temp setup of my pico at home to workout the bugs before moving it to my office and I later decided to just setup the pico on my home desk instead, so yes it has been messed with a lot. Hopefully I'm now done with everything but the stocking.
