Reef Envy 120

After lots of thinking, I decided that I would do pillars, but differently and make a southwest type of backwall without foam. I used real pukani rock.
I cut the rocks into what looked nice to me and epoxied them into sculpture. For the backwall I cut rocks down the middle with a average thickness of 3".
The 5 minute epoxy was cheap $14 for two very large bottles (4.5oz each bottle) at local "blue" home improvement store that's 9.0oz of part a and b.

I then cut rock, after rock, after rock until I got things the way I wanted. I made a mock display in the garage, then later moved it into the DT.

I didn't trust myself around the tank so I blanketed the tank with good grade plastic wrap..

Thoughts over the past month...

My Waveline at 2640gph running max is powerful and low wattage. The water flows through the sump so fast that I don't think the skimmer has time to filter.

The custom sump made noises from drain overflowing to socks... put drain directly into sock... easy fix.

I have not owned a skimmer more than 5 bills. I can honestly say it was the single best investment for the health of my tank due to water quality. The ammonia spike started on day 5, water clarity at day 6-7, and yellow removed from the water on day 8. I seriously thought the only way to remove yellow from water was carbon, boy was I wrong. I use NSW locally to cycle. Ammonia is low and rock is starting to cure lately.

When re-using older equipment, be sure to change all plumbing parts, seals, tubing, etc. My calcium reactor was leaking due to a old Uniseal ($2 part) that caused a slow leak.

RKE is a amazing product. I messed up updating the power bricks and they had the same serial no. I read that you can flash one, try to brick it by unplugging during flashing and re-flash it. Worked like a charm with a new serial no. How did I keep a reef without a RKE for so long.

The Jebao WP-25 is too amazing. I can't run them both in the tank on anything but 50% because that's as low as they go. Any other mode is a sandstorm. They are quiet, efficient, and strong. Just wish they had one controller to control multiple. I'm glad I didn't get a WP-40 LOL!

Having adjustable everything is pretty cool (return, skimmer, and power heads)

Having my return T off to a phosphate reactor and carbon reactor is cool, but water level adjustments are touchy. That's where the gate valve is cool.

Running my Radion Pro's at 50% seems lighting is more that sufficient at this time. Almost, too much at 100%.

Put in a blue tang tonight... daughter says, "It's name will be Dory" we stared at each other for 20 seconds smiling.

told you lol,them wps are the bomb they do make a voltage reducer you can hook up to them and set them as you like..12/24 volts they sell them for the wps at fishstreet i ordered 2 of them for my 40s

It doesn't cease to amaze me what one blue tang can do in 48hrs to a skimmer and/or filter socks. I know that 6 green chromis and 2 clowns don't do that much to my skimmer over the past week.

was a real pleasure to have built and worked on your tank , youve lived up to every expectation i put on you and we put on our build , we at concept are very proud and im sure this tank is going to be one sexay build for the folks here on RC

im glad we opted for the one piece euro these are a pure work of art and def makes a diff when viewing the whole setup as a whole.

i noticed in an earlier post that you were getting noise form the drain compartment to the socks , is this from bubbles or just water running?

when setting your herbie your looking for no bubbles , if its a matter of too much flow from the speedwave i would turn it down a bit ideally your looking for about 1000-1200gph to your display so you dont out perform your skimmer, i would think speed 3 or 4 would be more than enough for you(unless manifolding off for rector)

either way your build looks stellar and im very glad you are happy.

Nazarma thanks! I saw this tank from Concept @quarium$. They told me no tank was too small. I said, "Even a 120g with a one piece euro top?" Rest is history.

Denny!, yeah it's just the sound of water rushing from the drain chamber to socks, I just moved drain directly to socks.

Ron99, thanks It's worth the wait for the tank. I recommend using an easy blade scraper with a magfloat, won't scratch the glass, best investment.

Good_GReef thank you, there are excellent upholstery guys and good ones. I used a good one, excellent guy wanted double. Overall, it came out nice
