Good to know you like it.
I plan to make a video to introduce my Aquarium IOT system. Any feedback is welcome.

Hi Shih, I had a very similar idea for sump set up. Do you see any benefit having the refugium section pouring directly in to return? I wasnt going to have refugium just my matrix etc and was going to have it pumped from return and pouring in to the skimmer section to control the flow. What do you think?

From my view, as long as a design can make “slow currents” in refugium section, and with good filter to avoid crab, snail, pistol shrimp, etc… via return pump to main tank, then the refugium is good enough to serve its main goal. Note you do need cods, pods via refugium pouring back to main tank, so your Mandarin goby can survive there. So what else having a refugium section pouring directly in to return behind main pump section as I did in my sump design? Beyond above “slow currents”, “filter” features that a refugium must-have, this design I can turn off pouring valve, create an isolate section for water change. This way, tank owner do not have to turn off main pump when running water change, and I think it benefit a lot for new temperature control and other perspectives. The other minor benefit is since refugium which you need light, is far away from skimmer section, skimmer will have less chance to grow algae, but of course there are other ways to avoid light hit directly to skimmer section.

I just spent the better part of the last 3 days reading through your thread. Fantastic tank! What a terrific design, and truly beautiful results!

Shih87,
Very nice tank. What doser are you using now. I bought the Apex but it has a lot of problems. The new GHL without the screen looks nice but I'm also considering the Pacificsuns. Thanks.

Very nice Video. Impressive setup.
My favorite part is the Light going up and down. Seeing all the drops going into your tank shows, You have mastered dosing proper quantities/mixes of additives since your Corals show amazing results. Something I may try again someday in the distant future, however with my new tank I'm going to try no additives for a while (Just because it always messed me up being too eager to improve things). What is the function of the weight sensor? |

I have just one experience on a Wireless pump controller (wifi). I am not happy with wireless in general. Not reliable. For sensitive, critical system control I personally like Hard Wired for Performance and reliability. Also same with software to control automation. I like Personal Computer, or at least WEB based designs (like Apex Fusion), since I don't want to have to find my Android phone, or tablet to do things. If phone battery is dead, I lose access. It is convenient, but should not be the only access method. |

The weight sensor equipped with WiFi so it will not only detect an empty feeder and via MQTT to send a text message to my iPhone. It was a special request from me to my genius friends. haha!!

I might spent too much effort on filming recently, haha. The results, NO3 rise to 5ppm from undetectable. $@#*=%#!! Took a video as evidence what is going on now and for comparison later once NO3 drop to 0.02ppm. Target to remove NO3 source before next business trip.

Do you notice a difference with higher no3 in your corals?

Good question and that is why I took a video so I can compare it more open minded later.
From what I can tell, coral is still healthy as on ULNS it was with good PE, but some coral skin and tentacle become darker color. My SSC (strawberry shortcake) Acropora lost its bright pink and green color, and become dark red as an example.

Shih, your tank is looking absolutely amazing!
What about growth? Has the raised n increased growth rates? It looks like your tank has exploded with growth in the past little while.

Grow is fanstatic and have to trim from time to time, but I can’t real tell if high NO3 help grow. Maybe a little be, I guess.
