I switch between regular Instant Ocean and Liveaquaria saltmix whichever is cheaper or on sale.

I used corralife for many years, did switch to IO a few years back.

I got a couple buckets of another brand at RAP, I’ll give it a try.

Those who use instant ocean:

Do you notice alk raises after a WC. Noticed high alk level and like to add as close as possible when doing wc

Maybe a little. Slightly outside the error range of the test kit. Tends to not result in a net upward trend though.

Well obv when you’re doing a minute percentage of water changes you really don’t fluctuate your alk level much, correct?

Yes, it does bump alk but not enough to be a problem. I keep my alk at 8

I personally use Instant Ocean Reef Crystals. The salt mix you use really depends on the alkalinity, calcium, and magnesium you're trying to keep. Here is a link to a table so you can see what each mix has:

RSCP, probably switching to IO soon though. I did some testing and found that RSCP mixed where I wanted it to after 24 hours but I'll still testing and adjusting before doing the water change. Might as well just go IO if I'm still doing the adjustments.

I have been using Instant Ocean for years. No issues with it and I see no reason for spending a huge amount of extra money on some other brand just because it has a slightly different Alk or Calc than another brand. I will adjust those before using the water if need be and save myself a load of money.

.

Instant Ocean mixes to a dKH of 11. See Guide. How do you lower dKH if you do not want 11? Let's say 7.8, which is where I like to keep my tank. I know how to raise it but have no idea, except for usage, how to lower it.
