Gentlemen,
Great discussion about the future cost of LED/T5/Etc. Probably a subject that deserves its OWN thread in the lighting section. If the EcoTech fixture does not fit into your current budget then don't buy it. Those of us that have made the purchase of this fixture a priority (and have already paid for it in my/others case) are trying to get more information. So in the hope that Tim will see this before more OT posts cloud things up: Quote:

There are already on market LED lamps with UV 420nm LEDS.
Let looks for Hyperion lamp Orphek UV But if Radion will offer upgrade possibilities - who know... Last edited by Bellagio; 09/21/2011 at 04:37 PM. |

The lack of response from ecotech must mean they are working hard to get my fixture out the door

I just returned my Maxspect mazarra after looking at these things. Looks awesome. I'm confident one unit should cover a mixed reef on a 30" by 12" by 22" 37g, chime in eco-tech if you agree.

Hello Tim are you there? J/K, I know that you are really busy with the big launch coming and all.
My question has to do with the hanging kits. I have been seeing them on a couple of sites (unfortunately not the site that I ordered my 2 Radions from, marinedepot) but have not seen the brackets used for hanging multiple units. Will both of these key components be available at launch, as what point will it be to have the fixtures if they can not be hanged properly? Also, I am in the first shipment from MD and am anxiously waiting! P.S. How is the software coming, will that be ready at launch for download so programming can be implemented? |

Per Ecotech earlier in this thread: " The premium hanging kit will be available at launch and we hope to have brackets available shortly after launch, hopefully within the first month or so" |

Hi Ecotech, another run-o-the-mill question.
How many Radions for a 84"x24"x27"h tank. 235g , mixed reef, clams on bottom at 1 per 40g is that 6? or 1 per 2'x2' for 3 or 4? thank you |

I'd go with about six to start out. You could try less initially and go from there. Since the product is so new it will take some time to see what consumers consider ideal. For example, for our 6'x3'x30" 350gal, we are looking at between six and eight.

hi I really like your new LED light.
Can one cover a 40g 36 x 16 x16 tank? (Soft corals only) How many inches above the water line should it be mounted? what is the difference from the basic and premium hanging kit? how do I hide the power cord? is there a splash guard? can you give an example of what I could use this and a ES Vortech for communication wise? is PETCO online going to carry this? (I know they have your other products) finally does it come with a controller for full lunar and day light cycles? thank you Last edited by A_Z; 09/23/2011 at 08:33 PM. |

Screw grade
Hi Tim,
May I know are those 12 screws for screwing the panel, fan and LED splash guard a marine grade stainless steel screws ? I'm afraid it may rusty overtime incase of salt water splashed since it's near to the top water surface level. Please advice. |

To my understanding that is the premium hanging kit. It is the one shown in the product picture at the beginning of this thread.

This is correct, I spoke with EcoTech and they said that was a custom piece and if you ordered more than one you would need to make your own. They have no immediate plans on making those.

OMG...so don't buy it? Drill 2 holes in a piece of stainless steel sheet. There is your bracket. I don't understand why people are in this thread complaining.
If you can't afford a $750 top of the line LED fixture don't buy it. If you don't like the mounting options they will be offering, then don't buy it. If you can afford it, and like the options, then do buy it. Pretty simple logic.

Kind of disappointing that after spending a nice chunk of change on multiple units you would need to DIY a bracket for them. Or pay and extra $45 per hanging kit separately? I would think the way the units are hung over the tank would be one of the major design points. Seems like an after thought at best.
Don't know why but it just kind of bugs me that they wouldn't include all the hardware needed to use them out of the box Or more importantly I would think the spread from multiple units would benefit from being mounted in a precise fixed way so that they are being utilized to there full potential in terms of coverage. |
