If you want just an alkalinity increase, use it out of the box. It gives a tiny decrease in pH.

If you want both an alkalinity increase and a pH increase (mostly temporary) bake it first.

This is an average that was determined by measuring the salinity of different ocean waters. You cannot simply claim that every coral was taken from waters with a salinity of exact 1.0264. Some reefs have a salinity of 1.023-1.034 and some are beyond 1.027.
