Andrew's 215g Starphire Build

Hey guys,

I've been preparing for this for awhile now and have finally started the project, here's the details:

Tank: Oceanic Ultimate 215 gallon tank w/ Starphire Front / Sides and black back, along with MegaFlows overflows. 72x30x24

Sump: ADHI 60gal Sump / Refugium 42x18x18

Protein Skimmer: LifeReef SVS-24 w/ Mag 9

Lighting: 3 x 250w DE MH / 4 x 96w PC Actinic fixture for a total of 1,134w

Heating: 2 x 500w Finnex Titanium Heating elements

Controller: ReefKeeper Lite Level 3

Return Pump: Panworld 100PX-X / 1270 gph

Powerheads: 2 x Koralia 4's (not enough, planning for 2 x Vortech MP40W)

Misc: Vertex Media Reactor for running carbon 24/7

I think I've listed everything, but I'm sure I've missed something, my intent is for a SPS dominated reef, I also have about ~350 lbs of LR though I don't plan to use all of it in the display. I know how much you guys LOVE pictures, so without further ado:

Thanks, yeah I know but the overflows take about 10 gallons out of the water column.

Does that center brace bother you at all?

I'm assuming that you're talking about the large glass brace on the tank? I sure hope it doesn't but I'm sure it will eventually.

Andrew

I had the same glass brace on my oceanic 125. It is a pain to keep clean and after a blue spotted jawfish baked himself on it, I crossed it off my list when I upgraded.

I love that tank, but I hate that glass brace.

I have a chance to get a brand new setup with tank and stand for around 1100. Just wondering if it is a good deal and how that center brace affects the ability to clean your tank, aquascape, etc.

Thanks, it's a 3 x 36w PC fixture with 50/50 bulbs in it, I think the refugium is going to look just as cool as the tank!

Should be moving the tank in later this week, still trying to figure out a day and time that will work for everyone.
