RapidLed alternative

Looks like Rapidled doesn't do saltwater kits anymore. A while back I had a 32 biocube with a diy light from them that worked amazing. I think it was a heatink with 24 leds a mix of blue and white. Really clean look under the hood, everything grew great.

Now I am starting a new 32 biocube and need to figure out lighting. I am trying to keep costs down so I was hoping to find a similar diy option. Does anyone know the parts list or where to get them?

Or should I get one of the black box leds and sit it on top of my hood with a hole cut out(no hood/hanging is not an option)?

I had nothing but problems with my saltwater kit from RapidLED. It never worked correctly, after months of back and forth (to include them telling me the warranty is void once the lights are mounted? well then how are you supposed to test if the unit works) I tossed them into the junk pile and bought Radions

They were very unhelpful and could only suggest buying more LEDS.

Complete rip off IMHO

On the opposite end of the spectrum, I have many tanks over a 10 years span and nothing but success with Rapidled. All of those diodes still running to this day. RAPILED only supplies the tools, Its up to the end user and there skill set to complete the project....

That sounds a little like you a blaming their system's failure on the user's skill which isn't accurate. Actually, RapidLED markets their kits as needing very little skill, stating that all you need is to watch the videos on their web site. So even someone with no skill should not have the issues I experienced.

My point is that there is little the user (skilled or not) can do because their products are not very good to start with.

It appears to me they still have equivalents of everything they had before just not ready packaged as a "kit". I'm sure you could just contact them and ask for a list of required items to replicate what you had before. I've always found them very helpful and my diy RapidLED setup is still going 8 yrs strong.
