I wish. Fish room is definitely out of the budget.

Trust me, I was where you are. It takes lots of patience and confidence. I myself believe I can do this. I am not an expert as this is my first actual DIY tank build. But it took alot of research and You Tube.

Your tank size is a dream.
I admire you working with acrylic, no room for error, can be costly.
Definitely subscribed, and good luck with your build...

Funny thing is...2 months ago, I also bought 4 of them, for my 8' 200g sump, although, I thought that they hold even more than 600lbs each!

I'm currently redoing my fishroom so that I can have access to the back of the DT (it's not easy to reach over a DT that is 40" front to back)...figured that it might be a good idea to put sump on wheels, just in case!

Thank you for the comment. Iwill take this nice and slow so there wont be any bubbles and have a full contact with the acrylic.

I will be watching this build as it is almost nearly the same size as my tank all the specs are the same except mines is 27 tall and I just want to tell you its a pia working in the middle of the tank when its 48 wide I love the size of my tank but no way no how would I imo have made my stand that tall with 8 ft ceilings especially after you put on the lighting you will barely have any room to work and place live rock make changes etc. I went with a 44 inch stand cause I have 15 ft ceilings. And if you ever want to get a in close personal look at what it actually looks like I stay in New Tampa not to far from you and its a 520 8x48x27. oh and mixing your water I filled my whole tank sump etc with ro/di water about 700 gallons and once the water level was right I added the salt in the main display turned on two MP60's and a the return pump and let it have at it for about 2 days until it cleared up and the salt and everything checked out. I upgraded from a 220 also and used my rock and sand and I had it up and running the same day and didnt loose a thing so as long as you arent starting completely over you are fine for same day set up. Oh and by the way if you didnt want to do the closed loop system the MP60's provide a ton of flow. I have 2 of them on my tank. And di you think about going with another Itech or are you set on the reef octopus

That would mean moving my tank into another room and I dont want to take a full size bedroom away from my house. But it is a good thought.

Does anyone have any experience with a "gyre" flow tank. And how I could accomplish this task?

Yesssir it will. I just dont like the center overflow. It wont fit my sump I designed so I will remove it and close it off and then have the overflow box built on the 48" end and do the Beananimal there.
