Lawrence,
I'm going to avoid your crazy fish group, your track record isn't so good I've got so many angels now and everyone is well behaved. I would consider a tiny joculator or small interruptus. But at the moment, I just setup a new 150g outdoor frag tank and am busy playing with that. So no fish budget at the moment, only looking for browned out SPS. Dave B

Never Enough
So the tank has been doing so well for the past 18 months that I got the bug to start growing out frags again.
So I pulled an old frag tank out of storage and setup a frag tank outside in the yard (again). So once it was setup in the yard, it was a a quick run of pipe to plumb the frag tank to the outdoor sump. The first week the frag tank turned into a diatom field day. I was wiping the glass and the bottom every 18 hours to see into the tank. Fortunately the rest of the system (this is connected to the display tank) didn't have any issues. So it was just an issue with the glass in the frag tank. So this week started adding brown corals to the system. So this is totally exposed to the sun, no shade, cloth or filters. I'm using a commercial fan at the moment for evaporative cooling. I'll try to post photos weekly to show how the brown corals come back to life. Dave B

What is it, do you think, in your display tank's lighting that leads to the browned out loss of colour? If you know your frag tank can restore them with a lot wider light spectrum isn't that what you should be putting back into your display tank's lighting?

The brown corals outside come from the wholesalers. Sometimes corals lose color in shipping, and some don't do well in the conditions at the wholesaler (lighting, parameters). So I pick those that aren't going to sell, and color them back up. Dave B

Frag tank is doing okay. Will try to post some photos over the weekend of how the corals are coloring up outside.
Inside tank is doing well. When the camera is out I will take a few shots of it as well. Dave B

So what happens if or when it rains? Or do you not have that problem?
