Lighting for orange finger gorgonia

Lfs says I can't give it too much light but I'm doubting that. I think I have the right flow, med- high but not directly blasting it. It's placed in the upper third of tank under a tank brace( probably doesn't affect shading much) and under a single T5 bulb 12 inches up and offset from kessil 360s on low. I read they like low light, does it sound like I should lower it? Also, polyps were fully extended when I turned light on this morning but have receded. Do they just extend in low light to feed?

The polyps come out at night to feed. Keep it away from bright light so you don't burn the polyps. There's no point trying to tan them so keep emailing in the shade

Problem with those is that under bright light they get overgrown with algae. Those are non photosynthetic and best to keep them in low light, good flow. I only run 6W of blue light over my NPS tank and all my gorgonians have their polyps out almost 24/7.

I agree, low light is best to prevent algae and keep them happy.
