90 gallon tank with a 300 upgrade??

Hello,
I currently had a 90-gallon tank, has filter socks.
This is a heavily stocked tank SPS dominant
Talking with the wife, and got the green light to upgrade to a 250-300 in about a year. This is going to be SPS dominated as well!
Would I be okay with a double cone 200??

A double come 200 would work fine for the 250-300 gallon display but it will be very inconsistent on a 90 gallon display. You couldn’t put enough fish in a 90 gallon for a 200 sized skimmer to work well on that size display.

Guess I am better off with my current skimmer till I upgrade right?
No happy medium for the two tanks for now? Just in case I want to get a slimmer what would you recommend for the 90?

For the 90, it just depends on how heavy your fish load is. A heavy load is about 1/2” of fish per display gallon but in all honesty, a Mini 160 or Double Cone 150 should work well with that size display regardless of your load. Either would eb too small for your future plans though.
