got Dry rock from Amazon, what you think?
I didn't know where else to start this thread, figured it's kinda equipment. But anyway, I got these from amazon. SUPER cheap shipped. Can't wait to move to new place to set up tank. I'll keep you updated.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I posted a video on the unboxing if you wanna see them. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fmv1_Rd7_MA I really like them. They raised the price $10 in the last month so get it while the getting is good!

The rock is great. My nitrates are at 0.10 phosphates at 0.004. It is a little dense for my liking, I mean its no pukani and this kind of rock is known for being dense. But still lots of places for pods to hide.

is that all 40 lbs of it? (except for the tonga sticks I suppose).
what size tank? maybe similar to marco rocks. I know marco rocks are a bit on the heavy side. |

It's actually only 15lbs or so in a IM 30L tank. The odd looking rock in the center is the one made by marine pure. It's basically reef saver rock that brs sells

Yours looks nice. There's some purple looking rock on Amazon that looks nice. I'm considering it. Has lots of nooks and crannies in the pics. Think it's like a 40lb box for $150. Might grab a couple boxes.

marco rocks price has increased quite a lot from 10 years ago. they used to be reasonably priced. I think I paid $1/lb a while back. Now they are $2/lb. I know their rocks are quite a lot heavier than the rocks that came with a used setup I recently bought. so when op said the amazon rocks are quite dense, I think it is safe to guess it is similar to marco rocks.

I would doubt it if they were mined somewhere different. Marketing

Got the rocks.
They are not the same as Marco rocks (at least from the ones I got many years ago). I actually like these rocks better. I got them for $37 instead of $50, must be from a customer return. I power washed them and not that much sand came off. I think most of it already settled to the bottom of the box during shipment. Packaging could be better I think. |

I've gotten those and used them to create a rock wall. To do that I had to make coarse (2-4") rubble. They were fine and hold bacteria just as any other rock. They just didn't have the texture I like, and are as dense as concrete in the interior when you bust em open.
I can't remember exactly how they were packaged but I think it was rocks inside a plastic mesh in a cardboard box. Not much to dampen the road bumps |
