Anyone Use this for DIY filter socks?

I'm planning on making a batch of DIY filter socks for my tank so I can simply change them out rather than have to remove, clean, and then replace all at once. I currently only have 2 filter socks.

I've read about using felt fabric for making them, but happend to come across Drain sleeve at HD and seems like it would be real easy to use to make a filter sock. Anyone ever try it or have any thoughts on it? not sure if it would be comparable to the material typically used or not.

I doubt that it's fine enough to do what you want it to do, but if you are just looking to catch the really coarse stuff it should be just fine.

I tell you one thing, if it worked, I like the price. Just run the ends through a sewing machine.
