Sand cost question

4 years ago I set up a 120 gal. DT. The Carib sea special sea floor sand was about $27/ 40 lb bag. I'm getting ready to set up a new tank with the same sand but it is more like $40 / 40 lb bag.

Just wondering if it is just inflation or is there a time of year that the sand can be had for a lower cost?

Thanks

Sand inflation it seems..

BRS seems to have the best pricing... today anyways..

I've been in this hobby awhile I know the costs but sand has doubled and I was wondering what may have been driving it

Higher demand usually increases prices
Lower supply does too

Sorry - couldn't help myself

Part of the issue could be that many online companies selling fish tank stuff have to offer free shipping to attract customers. So something heavy like sand they just markup to cover the real shipping costs yet you still get "free shipping".

just a thought...
