Oceanic Tank Tempered Glass???

Does anyone know if Oceanic tanks have a tempered glass bottom?

I have a 75gal corner tank. The tank is already drilled for overflow, which makes me think the bottom is not tempered, but I'd like to run the return up through the bottom as well. Thanks in advance for any help!

It may have been tempered after the hole was placed. Regardless, I would strongly suggest checking before drilling. Tanks tend to get built with whatever pieces they have, tempered or not. You can use a laptop screen set to anything all white (open a blank word document). Put it inside the tank and look through the panel in question wearing polarized sunglasses. If it looks normal, turn your head sideways and look again. If it still looks normal it's not tempered. If at any point you see wavy lines or it darkens, it is tempered.

FWIW - my old Oceanic 120 didn't have a tempered panel in it. It was also 1/2" glass and weighed about 10,000 lbs. (or at least seemd to when I had to carry it up the basement steps. 3 times for 3 moves.

I've owned a few Oceanics over the years and none had tempered panels - heavy as hell as noted. Hard to say for certain though. Try the polarized glasses test.

I don’t think they are tempered but watch a YouTube video on how to tell if a fish tank is tempered or not.
