Who runs Eheim 1260 WITHOUT sponge filter?

Looking to get more flow... I am thinking of removing the sponge filter. It isnt clogged up... simply worn out and doesnt flow much through it.

Anybody have thoughts?

As long as there is nothing floating around there should be no problem.

I've never used any type of grill or sponge on any return pump but I run a sock so there isn't much in my sump

Hi,
I have two Eheim 1262's and one 1260, bulletproof! Never have used the sponge pre-filters on them. I have one for my Lifereef skimmer, return pump in the sump and the 1260 for my mixing tank. I think the Eheim 1260 is 15 years old while the others are about 6 years old. I do use socks in my sump to filter out large particles.
Love the Eheim quality.
