Back in the hobby-48" light recommendation
Aloha folks,
Long time member, been out of the game for awhile but am building a tank for the little ones. 55 gallon with live rock and just some local to Hawaii reef fish. I've browsed lighting options and they are so different from 15-20 years ago. Anyone have a good recommendation for energy efficient, not too hot, but effective lighting in 48"? No corals just fish and live rock, but may get into some basic live coral again later. thanks in advance! Pan |

Whats the budget? I've run T5, 48" Reefbreeders, and Kessil 360 on that length tank. You also have to consider not having yo buy a different setup if you do corals down the road.

I would say 2 Kessil A360x if your doing LPS or 4 Kessils if your doing SPS for a 48". Welcome back and I will tell you there is no light that can give you the shimmer and color balancing as Kessil does. I just changed my decision myself from Radions to this just due to those two factors.
