Which AquaFX RO/DI unit is this?

Hello everyone, I have an AquaFX RO/DI unit that I bought about 10 years ago, and am trying to figure out exact model.

I think it may be Barracuda, however I am not 100% sure for 3 reasons:

1) No idea if Barracuda model existed this long ago. Cant find definitive answer
2) While it looks identical, my unit never had Barracuda sticker on it
3) While looking at Barracuda models, noticed that text on mine is different

Thanks for the help.

It's a 4 stage unit.
Sediment, carbon, Membrane & DI in that order.
They are still in business so an email could be the real answer.

Thanks for the info. Good idea on sending them an email. Let's see what they come back with.

It's the barracuda.
I have the same one and mine was purchased 15 years ago. Still works like a champ.

Thanks very much for the info. Much appreciated. I guess best way going about it is to get a 100 GPD membrane and new filters and call it a day? I just realized that old membrane is still inside my unit. I took it out and it is DOW FILMTEC™ TW30-1812-100. Not sure if this is original one or not. I have some reading to do.

Thanks again for the help

Just make sure you have the right flow restrictor.
It should match up with the membrane.

The original membrane was a 75 gpd, did you buy this used?
The original owner might have changed the membrane and flow restrictor to accommodate the 100 gpd upgrade.

Thanks for the info. yes, I bought it used. Is there an easy way to check if flow restrictor was changed? Seeing how there was a 100 GPD membrane in there, I am guessing it is, but want to make sure before i go out and buy replacement membrane. Just looked on the AqaFX site. 100 gpd flow restrictor is only $4, so cheap to replace if need be.

Thanks

Edit: Just saw video on AquFX site on replacing restrictors. Pulled mine out but no idea how to check what the flow is. Spoke to AquaFX support and person said that 50 gpd should be about 2 inches long, while 100 gpd should be about 4. Not sure if that makes sense as mine isnt even an inch, and looking at their video on how to remove restrictor, theirs is just as short.

Edit 2. it looks like this restrictor may have been cut at the top so that more water goes through. Looking at it, it looks like someone took exacto knife to it and chopped the top off.

I would just replace that inline with a new restrictor/flush valve combo from BRS. Flush valve should be installed either way because you need to flush the unit before each startup due to the high TDS.
You can go with the 800 ml if you want to stay with the 100 GPD. You can also pick up the membrane from them.

It doesn't matter what brand the housings are from. More importantly, it matters what type of filters you are using.

I have a no brand name unit.

150 gpd membrane

I like to use filmtec ro membranes

You can find them on ebay and amazon

For carbon and sediment, I get them off ebay.

0.5 micron for everything for me
