nyos 220 producing a wet skimate

hi guys
I have a nyos 220 skimmer for about 9 months, for some unknown reason the needle wheel impeller overheats and portion of the needle assembly remains on the shaft and the remainder breaks off rendering it useless. i have replaced the impeller twice. the problem however began when i replaced the impeller a few weeks ago, the skimmate for some reason appears to be wetter and there is not as many bubbles being created in the water column.
any suggestions?
