Small update
Not too much to report over the last few weeks. I did get word this morning that my tank is completed and in the curing stage now. I hope to have some pictures of it today or tomorrow. They are anticipating delivery the week of the 30th.
Construction in the basement is moving along very nicely with no unexpected surprises. Waiting really stinks!!!!!!

A very disappointing update......
I just got an email from the tank builder and the final panel of glass was not cut right and needs to be re-cut . They hope to have the new piece of glass by the middle of the week and on by the end of the week. So where the tank was supposed to ship next week, I am guessing it will be at least 3 weeks now before it ships...... I think I will go find a pile of snow and stick my head in it so I can cool off!

Steve, tank looks good! Before you know it it will have water in it and it will be time to add the fish/coral. That's at least what I've been telling myself, especially after biting bullet and spending $1500 today on SCH 80 piping valves!

I support Premium Aquatics on everything they sell and they treat me well and I'm happy to keep a business locally thriving. Everything else I bought was from BRS that they did not carry but looks like they have a few things that will delay the plumbing. Ball Valves, gate valves, unions, and the other fittings add up QUICK. Luckily when I add the DT into the system it won't require that much plumbing.

I need to sit down this week and lay it all out. I am definitely going to build a manifold but trying to decide if I am going to have one pump or two. I am thinking 2 right now....one solely for the dt and one to feed everything hooked up to the manifold.

It took quite some time for me to figure out all the plumbing. We'll see if I accounted for enough to do the project or if I have to order more.
As far as pumps go....I've went with two ReeFlo pumps feeding to 1.5" and then into a 2" pipe. I have a gate valve on outlet and ball valve on inlet of each one so I can control flow and can also turn valves off and take pump out for servicing. This also leaves me with redundancy so I have one pump to fall back on even though its not going to have full flow as normal. If you separate pumps and what they feed to then if one pump goes, that portion of your system is not utilized.

Updates
SLIGHTLY OFF TOPIC
Basement remodel is coming to a completion. We are at the hurry and wait stage as we wait for cabinets, flooring and fixtures. Only one surprise but unfortunately it was a major surprise...electrical. When the electrician was installing the sub panel for my fish room, he noticed that my main panel was significantly overloaded already. I had my brother in-law who is an electrical engineer check it out for confirmation and $5k later I can sleep at night now knowing my house won't burn down from an electrical overload. Pictures of the basement...... Image.jpg Image 2.jpg Image 3.jpg TANK UPDATE Leak test this weekend, crating on monday and hopefully shipped by the middle of the week.

Thanks Dustin! We created a hallway on the other side of the stairs where a mini kitchen will be and thrm that opens to more finished area with a half bath.
I'm so excited about the arrival of the tank but theres also a lot of anxiety too. The tank is 650lbs and the movers will have to flip it on its side to get it into the basement. the owner of the moving co has been delivering tanks for my lfs for 10yrs and assures me it won't be a problem. I will have a large bottle of scotch on hand come delivery day!!! Steve

Looking good Steve. Once it is in your basement you will be so relieved! I remember when I was getting mine delivered I was so nervous until the tank was in the basement and stable! Stairs can be tricky. Just make sure the guys are prepared for the weight on the angle. Once that baby starts in motion it is a pain to stop...literally!
Oh good catch on the electrical!

Thats my 80g deep blue prof frag tank that is serving as my temporary holding tank for now. I had to take down my 40g before the work could begin in the basement so I used that as an opportunity to upgrade that tank as well
