Fish only setup - 30 gal

I acquired an interesting 30 gal tank from the Science Museum here in St. Louis. I'm narrowing down what to do with it. I'm thinking small peaceful, hardy fish only. I doing a heater, powerhead, and canister, with black sand (caribsea tahitian moon). For fish I was thinking zebra dartfish, neon gobies, chalk bass, yellow stripe cardinalfish. Some rocks and fake plastic plants. Any thoughts or advice? snails? invertebrae? amount of rock?

Can you post a different pic? One that we can see full size? I would not put plastic plants in any marine tank.

That's a really cool tank! I might consider making a species tank and keeping seahorses in there.

Thsnks Scattered!! Man I would LOVE to do a seahorse tank! I had thought about that but stopped researching once I heard they should be fed 5 times a day

Isn't this one of the tanks made for jellyfish?

Tell us a little more about the tank, things like filtration, sump, lights, access, circulation, etc.

No although it looks like a perfect jellyfish tank the back part is full of square corners. The tank is like a tall rectangle with a half sphere in the front. For equipment, I'm doing a heater, powerhead, and canister, with black sand (caribsea tahitian moon). The display part will have 15 lbs of rock and I'm planning to put coral rubble, sponges, and carbon in the canister. There will be no skimmer.

Lighting is LED and came with the tank. It looks custom built I don't believe it's anything high quality. No timer or anything on it just an on/off switch and like 6 degrees of blue to white light.

I am not sure how responsible it is keeping cephalopods. I know the are not long lived in ideal circumstances and of course they will kill you but a blue ring octopus might be sweet in that tank.

I would just do a pair of clowns and a handful of cleaner shrimp maybe 3-5 snails for clean up crew and a free pieces of dry rock

The shrimp will give you a lot of movement and the clowns will be cool to watch

Gobies and cardinals really don’t do much

I might try to grow some mushrooms and Gsp in the tank for color.
You he surprised how little light they need to grow
