Thanks, while tempting, I would have no where to QT such a large specimen

Hey Matt, thanks, it was a bummer for sure, since I figured once it's settled and eating, it should be solid, especially compared to a bunch of butterflies Alas, nope...

I should update this thread more often... it's just that now that the tank is full, and I'm not adding anything, there isn't much to update with I'll try to get more pics going this weekend. Maybe another video... is overdue....

How's your tank doing?

Agreed. Beautiful fish. Nice to see the growth progression of some of your fish.

I totally understand, when you're not actively stocking it's just different.

Tank is decent, I lost a few of my trickier butterflies last year and it's put me in a funk I just can't seem to get out of.

I do have a small gaggle of yellow tangs in quarantine right now and I'm planning to finally release my little blue line after a ridiculously long quarantine.

I'm starting the hunt for some tilefish, trying to change up the direction, see if I can't get my interest going again. My tank is in the basement, so I don't see it as much as I'd like.

Do you have any plans for new additions? I know you've lost a few fish too, did that make any room?

Maybe will add smaller angels and prognathores... Do you have any experience with prognathores butterfly's?

Needless to say, the fish trap came out, and the burgessi is currently spending time in the sump with my not so friendly yellow stripe maroon clownfish. I will probably try a reset; I hate the thought of having to choose between the two, so we’ll see what happens.
I really should have done something sooner about the burgessi... found my mitratus huddled in a corner last night with one eye missing! He's dead as of this morning.

Interesting... keep me posted on the direction you go with your tank.

Yes, while I've lost a few, the others have grown significantly, so no room for additions. I will likely dismantle the QT tank soon, since it's been empty forever, and I don't plan on any additions.

I love your tank Peter. I am new to salt water fish and am in the process of starting up a 240 gallon fowlr. What books or website would you recommend to learn more about butterflies. Also how did you decide which angels would be compatible.

I'm not Peter, but honestly, the setting up sticky in the new to the hobby section can easily answer all your questions, and if it can't, post a thread in Reef Fishes to see if the Angels you want are compatible... This website is undoubtedly the best resource.

Thank you,

As mentioned, RC here is an invaluable website for these sorts of questions. Read lots of threads, and ask questions. Enjoy the hobby!

So sorry for your loss. Had Burgessi too with Declivis and the burgessi had to go, was way too aggressive. Beautiful fish, but never again.

Peter, could you list your equipment. I read through the post and you have a picture of the skimmer and what looks like an empty tank next to it.

Also you mention you have a fuge. Why and what do you keep in it.

Are you running any carbon, gfo or biopellets?

Can you also go through your QT process.

Sorry for all the questions but I love butterflies and want to be successful in keeping them. You are the resident butterfly expert and any knowledge you can share is greatly appreciated.
