Both tanks-as you can see the main tank is a island that will have lots of SPS,LPS growing out so it doesn't look like much today, but once grown out it'll look very natural
Mantis tank-Still need a smaller mantis species, and a more maco but it's getting there

I bought my first corals- 4 zoa frags and then mounted them on a rock
I have no idea the names of any of them: These a cool little yellow rimmed ones These one on the left of the hermit had a neon pink inner circle that disappeared once I mounted them-I hope it returns These I think are called ring of fire and they also lost a little color once mounted on the rock These are a super deep purple with a white center and have flourished like crazy- I also couldn't get a good picture no matter what I did(my camera's lame)

The red arrows point to glass panes and the black arrows point to silicone. Normal tanks are built with the bottom pane on the inside of the tank. The way I build it, is to have the side build on a bottom pane and have a inside pane(i'm pretty sure elos does this as well). This way there are two side silicon-ed. Since there is double the pressure on the bottom pane then the side-it's made pretty much bullet proof more pics just for reference older tank

Just to clarify.This is not the way our aquariums are constructed, with a different design for both bottom, overflow and materials.

What is a "floated plane" tank? I tried a search for it and couldn't find anything.
Also, the lights look pretty dim in the picture. Are they putting out MH-type light? |

Just found your thread and subscribed.
Couple questions: 1. Where did you get the cut glass? 2. Could you show some of the plumbing? 3. When are you going to get the third tank set up? 4. Could you do a full shot that shows all 3 tanks and the sump? Thanks. |

A floating plane is the pane of glass that is built inside the aquarium and is "floating" on silicone per say. Quote:

[QUOTE=Giga;15939360]HAHAHA-Elos is so elite
Sorry if it came across that way, I was just trying to clarify for others who may attempt to replicate our aquarium that this is not how we build our aquariums. Being that this is a nano forum, a person would likely attempt this in a smaller aquarium, as you have, but some may take your drawings and pictures and try to replicate this believing they are replicating what Elos does in a much larger tank and this would be incorrect and could be very dangerous. So again apologies if that comes across as elitist, that was not my intent.

Occasionally I do a search for, "elos" or a customer refers me to a thread and I am able to post on the thread and hopefully clarify something that was brought up about our product and it helps others with a similar question or idea. Sorry for the interruption in your thread.

How did I miss this thread until just now???
Happy to see you are back at it! The new tanks look great. I'm getting ready to attempt my first glass build. I remember you saying that you used glass in your previous tanks that was overkill as far as the thickness goes. How thick is the glass on these two tanks? Are you doing more frequent updates over at NR? If so would you mind pming me the link since I don't think you'll be able to post it in the thread. Definitely following along on this one! |
