Torch
Hi. Just brought home a torch and noticed the whitish stalk part is cracked. I didn't noticed this when I bought it. Maybe happened during transport. Should I be concerned?

It looks like it was cracked when they fragged it as it appears to go all the way down. A larger concern is the flesh does not cover the ridge of the skeleton. A healthy euphyllia (most any LPS coral) should have live flesh going at least to the top of the stalk.

Oh ok. Thanks. I ended up putting a small rubber band around base. So far it's been looking ok but still concerned.

if the tissue doesn't cover the entire extend of the stalk you could use a little super glue to mend the skeleton back together, just be careful not to pinch the tissue in the process creating a potential opening for infection

It looks like about 3 of the tentacles may be pinched. They are sticking through the top of the cracked all flattened out. I'm afraid to mess with it again because how fragile it is.

I would leave it be. It will do more harm then good to keep messing with it. It may take a few days to settle in, but If your params are ok & it is a healthy coral then it will be fine. If it starts looking like your first pic that u took when u first put him in your tank, then it may be time to worry.

So today when I got home I noticed brown jelly disease on the torch. I cleaned it off the best I could. Dipped in fresh water and cleaned again. I have it in a small container with some tank water. How long can it stay in there with no water movement? Should I put it in a bigger bucket and put a circulater in with it? I also glued the cracked parts and have a mini led light on it. Thanks
