LOL... Thanks...

I am suprised more people have not commented or asked questions sometimes. You know the normal "Why did you do it like that?" type stuff.

I have finally determined I am going to build a new stand for my old 120 and move it downstairs. I have committed to it in my head. I will have to build a custom sump I think. Unless I can find the $1/gallon deal again. But if so I'll have to get another skimmer and I have the PH and heaters. My current skimmer is ment for 300 and I only have 210 or so.

I was on the edge of just making it all connected to the other sump, ALSO. I have not pulled that out from the ideas, but each day I am still sitting on the fence.

Granted that would make me have an additional 120+ 40or60 sump to make an overall water volume at 400 gallons... But I have not decided what to put in the 120 besides making it a frag tank.

I am really looking for ideas or opinions.

You could have a larger sump built to accommodate both tanks. Isn't your tank in the basement already? Save you money on skimmer and pumps.

Yeah it is in the basement.

Look at this video:

The first part is where the 120 will go. It will but up right to that elec plug. It will be accessible on three sides. Since it is on that wall I can plumb it to go into the sump very easily for bidirectional flow.

The skimmer is already right there anyway.

The last part of the video is where the counter/sink/cabinets/fridge/freezer is going. (has to as that is the wet wall (plumbing and all))

HAHAHA.. I just use youtube music selector. I sometimes type in what I am feeling or just something that is happening. I usually listen to the whole song/video to make sure nothing inappropriate is being said.

They normally run that fast in real life.... HAHAHA Yeah it is neat to see exactly where they go. To see the snails stream out. The hermits are a different story. They are all over the place. I cleaned a HUGE rock the other day. Usually only one hermit would be on it, the following morning there were about 10 on it. Hummmm.. Now they have a place to sun their self. Now as long as they can keep it clean.

Thanks this has been an enjoyable project and puts it in a place where I don't have to worry about sunlight hitting it. Now to just keep on going and moving forward.

I am looking at taking my old 120 and connecting the two sumps together. That will increase my combined water volume by 160 at least, depending on the size sump and how it is configured.

Some updates:

Look after hours and found this guy eating something he should not have been.

I took another one of these and broke it out of a 2 hour video. This would be perfect as a screen saver for someone that wanted a tank. I changed my genre of music selection for this one today... Hope it does not get on your nerves it really fit the video.

Sounds like a good idea. I thought to myself for a second that the 40 you had was a small sump for that 180. But it definitely sounds good that you will add more water volume and a second sump or i am sure that you can convert the 120 by itself into a sump and you can use the 40 for quarantine, a frag tank, or for a water reservoir for your ato.

Yes the 40 is a sump for the 180. http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/sh...1&postcount=53 look at the walkaround video will give you a good view on the sump below it.

I have a 10g QT already.

I want the 120 to be a frag tank, maybe... hahaha

I have a 7g for the ATO... I do not want to make it totally turn key... Next thing you will want is an auto feeder and a silloute to walk by the tank so the fish think someone is watching them.

LOL

I am deff looking for ideas on adding the 120 with the 180.

Like I said I can prob get away with hooking the two sumps together. I just have to set up some flow switches so I do not overflow both sumps.

I still think you should do a bigger sump and run the 120 and 180 through it.

Well two 40's would make a nice 80g separated sump...

I was thinking of making my new sump like a 50 or something since I will have more control over the stand for the 120. That would increase it even more.

Two 40g would work perfectly. You could elevate one slightly and let it over flow into the second. They are not hard at all to drill. Draw up a plan, take a pic and lets see it.

uugh... I dont really want to cut into my existing sump. Rock Sand Cheato etc all in it.

Look at this pic. I am calling this the 180DT and the 180Sump:

SO... I was figuring I could put a pump in 180sump on the return side (far right where it goes up to the DT) this pump would feed to the 120sump (IDK where yet prob on the return to 120DT side).

Then take a pump and put it on the entry side of the 120sump and let it feed to the 180sump on the skimmer side (left hand side in picture).

Look at the 3/12 video called walkaround.

It shows where I am currently in the room build.

OHHH I did just get a delivery yesterday.

20" wide counter height all-freezer, -20 Degrees C capable with a lock and integrated door frame for full overlay panels With BI Fan

and

20" wide built-in undercounter all-refrigerator, auto defrost with a lock and integrated door frame for full overlay panels

Yeah Yeah Yeah.... they look the same... But they are a frige and a freezer. The front is a overlay panel so I can match the rest of the room and hide the way it looks.

I got the lock to keep the boys out of it. They seem to like to eat the cyclops..... (Just kidding, just wanted to see if anyone was actually reading this or just looking at the pictures.)
