Hi MSHUR.
Search out Gary Wilkinson cube tank from UK, uses Atlantik panels with massive success. If you use facebook, you can search him there. He used to like me, help to represent AF brand, he is still on the user page for AF, but not sure if he still is a mod. Anyway, he posted me photos there, his tank is outstanding.

Yeah,
I am curious too, using LED for first time, but know Gary fairly well over FB, he has had great success with his system. I am so on the edge of the V4 compact, it would be PERFECT for my dimensions.

Thank you Perry for the video...His tank looks very nice!

Seems like not that many SPS keepers using this light, i guess V4 still fairly new ..

A guy local to me uses the V2's and even with them he has great success and the coverage from the panel is impressive.

I just setup my V4 today......so to say they are better than my T5s they replaced is a bit early. That noted, I'm quite impressed with the Orphek v4. I am in fact ordering two more to replace the lighting in my other LED based system.......
Really meets or exceeds expectations.

I am inquiring on the V4 Compact, so close to pulling the trigger, I think this would be insane over my footprint, and would allow for sps coloration and growth. I do not want to run other lights, one single source light, led preferred at this point due to heat transfer and electricity. Hey Matt, how did you like the GHL Mitras? I have also been looking over the LX7, I think Cheers man!

Hey Perry, I found the user interface very cumbersome and simply a pita.. but I’m sure it’s waaaay better now. Back when I had them, there was no WiFi connection.. had to connect to a laptop..
As for the lights- fantastic and the newer generations are even better. I have three still hanging over a reef and they have literally not been touched in years. They must be almost 8 years old now..
No longer over an sps tank- mostly softies but they work great. No moving parts and they are marathon runners.
I’m sure the newer ones have new leds.. not sure.

Matt
From your experience with this light how many panels would you recommend for my size tank: 72x36x24, full coverage for SPS..
Orphek recommend 4panels,but for some reason i am skeptical

I’d be skeptical as well..
I’ve always been a proponent of multiple sources of light to avoid shading..
My tank is only 4 1/2 feet long and I had 3 panels. That was good coverage.
I had them hanging perpendicular to the length of the tank..
I would probably go with 5 on a 6 foot tank..
wouldn’t have to drive them as hard and less shadowing..

would you think 20" long panel will cover 36" front to back?

Wow, lots of $$ to spend on lighting)

Ya.. tough question.. considering you probably won’t have corals in the first 6-8 inches of the tank at the front, technically, you’re only covering 30ish inches with a 20 inch light.. and if the corals are shaded on their backside, where you never see them, it’s not so bad..

Agree, i dont have corals in the first 5-6". Also, Orphek Recommended Spread - 40" x 24"

witch is questionable with SPS corals.

How did you hang them, one by one or use some kind of bar like Ecotech use for Radions?

decisions ,decisions )

Thank you Matt

Here’s an old pic..

I have a pair of monster L brackets that are attached to the wall and I hung the above contraption from it..
the contraption is just a pair of aluminum angle pieces with squares of plywood (not shown) screwed to the aluminum..
Hold on.. here’s a pic with the wood in place.. and the mh- this is a waaay old version back from 2014..

You can see the plywood on ends and in middle

.. man I love photobucket for ease of use..

I don’t use them anymore. I sold them..
They came with hanging kits, if I remember. I just found a screw that fit in the hole that would have otherwise held the hanging kit piece.

If you used 3 panels over 4.5 ft perpendicular to the tank it means the lights are sufficient to light 1.5ft of tank length mounted back to front. Doesn't that mean 4 panels will be sufficient for 6ft of tank length? You mentioned this was "good" coverage and not just "sufficient"

How's the spread length wise, would you say it would cover a 4 foot tank?

Thanks
