HGH (Human Growth Hormone) is regulated by the U.S. meaning it has to be prescribed. Bodybuilders, AIDS patients, children and other medical candidates use HGH. Im not sure if you ever seen a true competiting bodybuilder in person... but they are twice the size of an average man. The reason for this is because HGH makes your bones and muscles grow once again after your body has stopped when you become an adult. Thats why bodybuilders have the square jaw look.. and even women hardcore bodybuilders. I and F? Did I say that? Most likely that is Iodine or Fluoride. |

O.K., that doesn't make sense. If body builders can get it, why couldn't we get it for our tanks? What about AGH (animal growth hormone like for cattle etc?).
Or, do the body builders get it illegally? Also curious about the MG levels and WHAT product are they using to dose it? (ie..something like dolimite in a CA reactor, a comercial aquarium additive, or Mg Sulfide Salt from the pharmancy) Thanks, Todd |

I will let the Ocean Drive or the Italians speak about Mg if they would like too. The problem with Mg in a reactor is the problem of dissolving it. A Ca reactor usese 6.2-7.1 or so to dissolve the media. Supposedly Mg media takes lower PH to dissolve. So if you have 6.7, the Mg media is just sitting there. A seperate reactor is ideal for this. Now, you can dose in liquid form too. |

There are numerous steroids on the market right now for cattle and horses...a growth hormone should be easy to attain if you look in the right spots. The question then becomes what side effects does this cause to your reef? I'm sure there are other chemicals in the GHs for livestock that could be detrimental. It'd definately be an experiment!

Looks like the Italians are not alone...
The Spanish are also going into extreme water parameters.. here's an example of someone in spain: "30 de Kh y 560/580 de Ca." "Los valores son kh 30, calcio 580, fosfatos 0." that last one is done by having a 5.95 PH in the Ca reactor. But thats another thread! |

Dosing HGH Maurizio's way.. is called the "Blu Coral Method" in Italy. The vials cost 80's euro's and when dosing skimmer must be stopped for hours. The vials are mixed with proteins (oysters, mussels, etc) turned into cubes.
Great info from this method here: http://www.reefitalia.net/forums/sho...hp?t=25&page=4 Ideal Parameters: iodio 0,06 ca 500 mg 1500 sr 30 ph 8,5 kh 12 Here's an example Roberto's. A 10 Month Period using the Blue Coral Method. |

Can't access that link..you need to log in. I'm curious how much gh was used in a 10mo peroid. The vials are measured in IU not MG. Also if you do your research you can find it a lot cheaper than 80 euros. when I was a gym rat gh was going for about $15 an IU now you can find it for $3 to$ 5 an IU

These are all large, well equiped, well cared for, mature reefs.
People are looking for the magic bullet again. BTW nothing against these tanks there awesome, but people are crazy if they think there tanks will turn into these overnight with HGH. |
