Fountain/pond pumps
I have used a few of these in my system for about a year and i haven't had any trouble (so far). Looking toward the future, does anyone see any problems using these?
I got them from Home depot off the shelf. so nothing really special about them. Thoughts? Thanks, Mark |

No problems..
They are your basic old tech/mag pumps typically... Nothing fancy but typically have stainless steel screws that will last a decent while.. No glaring reasons you can't use them.. They are suitable for fresh/saltwater..

I've used them on multiple systems. When talking to some old time reef people, they seem to think there is no reason to buy the expensive ones because these work just fine for years to come.

harbor freight sells them. I used to use their smallest pump as ATO pump.

When I looked into it, signs pointed to no but I could be wrong. Some folks were saying that a number of those pumps had oil in them and not to use them.

Many in CA use Max-Flo pond pumps, an Askol block, same as the Fluvals.
