coral excretion?

I notice every new coral I introduce or touch to move elsewhere
produces this fine thin clear thread. Is this some excretion or
toxic chemical warfare?

Most corals can secret a slime that it uses to protect itself when disturbed. Try being gentler and wear non powdered nitril gloves when you come in direct contact with coral.
