Kalk and iodine

I have an ATO that runs through a kalk reactor. I'm dosing iodine to help a bleached anemone. If I put the iodine in the ATO reservoir, will it react with the kalk when it passes through the reactor?

Another question. If I dose vitamins and amino acids in the same way, what will happen when it passes through the kalk reactor?

What form?

Iodide will not react with limewater, but it may well oxidize when highly diluted into a solution like limewater. So it may end up as iodate after some (undetermined) period of time.

Thank you Randy. I was hoping you would chime in on this.

I'm using Kent Marine concentrated Iodine. Ingredients are,
Water
Potassium iodide
calcium iodide
sodium hydrogen carbonate
sodium carbonate
sodium tetraborate

So, this formula shouldn't react with the kalk, correct?

What about other substances like vitamins, amino acids?

The sodium carbon and sodium hydrogen carbonate will cause some precipitation. So will the calcium, assuming you're using saturated kalk. I doubt there'd be much, though.

I think the amino acids should be fine, but I don't know about the vitamins.

Thanks Jonathan.
I guess the vitamin part of my question would be kinda hard to answer. I guess different vitamins would react differently to the conditions in a kalk reactor.

Oh, this is a reactor?

How would you add it to the reactor?

It will all dissolve rapidly and be dosed rapidly if you add it with the lime solids.

I think it would be better to dose the iodine into a sump or tank directly based on Randy's prior post in this thread:

"Iodide will not react with limewater, but it may well oxidize when highly diluted into a solution like limewater. So it may end up as iodate after some (undetermined) period of time."
