Refugium Revamp?

Dear Reef Central Members,

Should I pull the old cheat out of my refugium and replace it with new cheat full of amphipods and copepods? I was also thinking of adding miracle mud in the bottom instead of sand.

Thanks!

Just trim back the old cheato from time to time, no need to replace completely. In my experience the only thing that really gets any real benefit from the mud is mangroves. Sand is better for just about everything else imo

Why? What are you trying to accomplish?

I can not see why you would unless it is in declining health and needs to be replaced before it falls apart.

Than just let it go and prune when required. The pods will reproduce on their own in there

I agree, I think you will be good with just a trim.
