Hi, I just installed part 1 of my package on Saturday and was wondering how long it would take to see some ammonia. If I don't see any, does that mean the tank is cycled or do I need to do something to make it happen. New to hobby and all help is appreciated. Thanks

hey now jallen,
welcome aboard my friend...i am new here too! My rock has been in my tank for nearly three days. Just test ammonia several times throughout the day if you have time. If you dont get any your lucky! It's really as simple as Richard lays out in the directions for setup. take care, Jared

Thanks,
It's very exciting. Everything is going so well, it has been as simple as Richard said. If I don't get the ammonia, then I don't get a cycle. Should I worry about that or just wait a couple of weeks and order part 2.

Welcome to the TBS Owners Society! We should have some kind of name anyway.
You may never have a big ammonia spike. I didn't with either package.

Morning Folks,
Placed my order late Thursday the 4th and Richard called the morning of the 6th with a waybill number. Southwest however wasn't as cooperative. I got them on the 7th about 15 hours after they should have been here. Got them home, in the tank and several hours later had... rocks. Turned on the pumps and skimmer and such and went to bed last night and got up this AM to a perfectly clear tank. I did some scaping' this morning and installed my lights. Pictures do not do this rock justice. Look, it's something orange! A tubular, floppy thing! Multiple coral thingies? Whoa, its a red and purple/blue thing! Left Side Middle Right Side Wow.. this is nice. Makes the rock at the lfs look like something out of the desert. |

Thanks, only been cycling since Sunday morning, so just over 24hours.
Last night ammonia was at .2-.3 This morning it was at 1.2 25% water change. I'll test again later tonight. |

elzool- nice pictures! Thanks for sharing! Man Richard must be working real hard...there have been TONS of us getting his rock lately!
My ammonia right now after rocks being in tank 3 days is .025! I am happpy! I have a beautiful larger type featherduster which is brownish/black in color which is the frist I have seen...I have seen red and white/clear ones but this little guy is great! today a dead gorilla surfaced and was laying dead on a rock upide down...all together not torn up. Not sure why this happened...has something like this happened to any of you? take care, Jared

Hi guys and gals,
Thanks for the welcome aboard. It's nice to have others to share this tbs experience with. All of the pics look great. I'll try to post some of my own. Still no ammonia, I'll check for nitrates and nitrites. John
