75g Mixed Reef

Starting a new thread since I changed tanks.

Started off with a 2.5g gallon pico softies tank. Then went with 72 bowfront that has now made me hate all bowfronts.

see thread here. http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/sh....php?t=1925519

I don't really expect response on this thread since I mostly use it as a personal progress log. Helps me document.

Tank:

75g bowfront - Was no RR but was drilled and I siliconed the glass overflow box that was on my 72g bow.

Equipment

29 gallon DIY sump - 3 chambers. First chamber for skimmer and drain. Second is Refugium and ATS. Third is for Return pump

DSuny LED lights with Controller

Aqua Euro USA 135 Skimmer

DIY Algae Turf Scrubber

2 Koralia K4 powerheads
1 Koralia K2 powerhead
(really like the old school Koralia models so I've stuck with them)

Dosing

DIY 2 Part Calcium and Alk _ Randy's Recipe #1
Seachem Aquavitro Fuel
Vinegar

Fish and Inverts

Blue Regal Tang (yes tang police) LOL
Yellow Tang (again watch out for tang police)
Male and Female Mandarin Dragonettes
2 Lyretail Orange Anthias
Pair of Mated Ocellaris (Nemo!)
Lawnmower Blenny
8 Blue/Green Chromis

1 RBTA
Coco Worm
Feather Duster
2 huge Emerald Crabs
handfull of snails
3 Fighting Conch

I wont name the coral as I have no clue on what the "designer" names are and most are still frags.

Frags

Red Monti Cap
Purple Monti Cap
Blue Acro
Duncan with 4 heads
Wall Hammer
Frogspawn with 3 heads
4 different types of Acans
5 Different Chalices
3 Zoa frags
2 mushrooms
2 Torches (one has dark greenish tentacles with yellow to gold tips. the other is yellowish green tentacles with green tips)

Here you go Mike.

A bit cluttered but that's all the space I have to work with. I accidentally broke the baffle between skimmer chamber and fuge, so I just stuffed an acrylic baffle over it and leaned a rock on it. Lol. Just to stop the micro bubbles from making their way to the fuge or all the way to the return side.

Yeah man. One drain empties into the skimmer section, then second one has the ATS. I had an old 700 gph pump laying around and replaced my 500 gph return pump with it to increase the flow. I haven't measured the actual flow rate off that drain, but it "looks" to be flowing fine and grows algae really well.

I'm using a Phillips LED 100w equivalent bulb that has worked fine. Its rated as "daylight" so its probably around 6500K. I haven't found one with lower Kelvin that is equivalent to 100w. I only have one side of the ATS lit up, I don't have room to add another light.

I should probably order one of those Par38 LED bulbs with red and blues.

Need some help. Nothing is really growing but one frag of acans and duncans. Everything else is surviving and color is great. Just no growth.

CA is at 420
Alk is at 9
Mag 1350
Phosphate shows up 0
Nitrate 0

I'm running an ATS with good growth weekly. I dose 2 part to maintain CA and Alk.

Any ideas?

If color is great then no worries, its when things are bleaching its a problem.

You're right and nothing is bleached.

I guess I would love to see some growth along with it as well. LOL

I can't have my cake and eat it too, it seems.

Having some GHA issues. Likely due to overfeeding my Anthias.

I scrubbed the majority of it out and it seems like it was not fully alive as it was yellowish/brown/green instead of bright green when healthy.

Been doing 10% water changes every 4 - 5 days for the last month or so. I ran one bag of phosguard for 4 days, then another for another 4 days, and one more right now and added a GFO reactor. Hopefully, it doesn't come back.

Turns out my "cheap" LED lights have a WiFi feature. I didn't purchase the WiFi version but it seems they sent it to me when I got them early this year. I installed the app on my iPad and played with them for a bit. I'll make a quick video of it hopefully tonight.
