I am approaching my build from the bottom up since I don't have the tank yet
Tonight Harold and I changed out the failing mag3600 for a blueline 100Hd and the leaking 30 gal sump for a 60 gal tote.
Because of the extra power we had to make a by pass back to the sump so the tank would not over flow.

Actually for a good complete setup with bulbs, that 1200.00 "really isn't that bad". LOL, amazing the cash we put into these tanks. Great shots Scott!

TJ, update on the drilling? Did you finalize your plans for the garage layout?

Thanks for the link. If I go with T5's I'll be hooking up a retro kit, and utilize my current unit to help offset the cost.

I finished the closed loop output holes yesterday. Now I need to order 2 new bits for the remaining 3 (1") overflow holes, and the 2 (1-1/2") closed loop intake holes.

Also, I need to order all the bulkheads.

I have a few offers on the table for a Reeflo Barracuda pump for the closed loop. So I'll be taking a look at those this coming week.

yeah grim recommends aquactinics for almost every tank, then slr then tek. i read like 4 splits the other day when i was feeling ill at work and was just trying to kill a bit of time.

Yeah, I need to try and get a cost estimate for the various setups. With the retrofit kit, I'd be able to fit around 20 - 36" T5's (10 on each side)

Lighting will probably end up being a fairly lenghty discussion when it comes time to make a decision. 250w vs 400w vs T5's. It's going to be the last purchase I make for the tank though.

Thanks guys

I should have an update later today/this evening. I'm going to pick up some stuff after work, and my new hole saws should be here. So I can get the last holes cut, and the overflow construction started.

Thanks everyone

I definitely appreciate everyone who voted, and who nominated my thread. Hopefully a lot will happen this month to keep this build exciting and moving forward.

Well I don't have a major update. I was planning on picking up some stuff today, but it ended up not working out. So I'll be traveling up to pick everything up tomorrow, and also stopping at Salty Critter to pick up something for my 90g tank.

However, the hole saws showed up today from www.glass-holes.com so I can cut the remaining holes in the tank. You can see how much larger the hole saw is for the 1-1/2" bulkheads than the 1" ones (bottom right 2 are new ones).
