Vertex skimmer...no replacement parts
Don't purchase a vertex skimmer as there are no replacement parts to maintain. No impeller or replacement pump. Don't understand why company's carry such products.

Untrue, Contact Vertex at (714) 274-6550. They carry replacement parts for all currently produced products.

It doesn't accept a different skimmer pump than what came with it? I find that hard to believe.

Call the number I listed or email adam@vertextechnologies.net. If you emailed through the vertex aquaristik website it has to bounce from Germany back to California. Try the contact I've listed, or talk to Albert at AquaCave, he can put you in touch with the people at Vertex.

Syncra sk 400 impeller or complete pump. On no website, sicce didn't reply, vertex didn't reply, marine depot, premium aquatics, aquacave....no one could help. So I purchased another skimmer as this has been going on for 2 weeks now. Should it be this hard? I have been doing this for over 10 years and have never had to hunt something down to this extent.

I'm assuming its an Omega series skimmer as the previous IN series (now discontinued) did not use Sicce pumps.

I can say with complete certainty that Omega 150 parts are available. I'm shocked none of the mentioned retailers could assist you. If you call or email the contacts I posted they will without a doubt be able to get any part for the Omega series skimmer for you right away (assuming they are in stock and not awaiting a shipment of them)

Same boat as you. Had the older IN. Pump finally gave out. Searched for a month thru tons of vendors. Ended up with Nyos and love it. Tons of skim on my 180. But for the cost of Vertex you'd think the support would be better

Contact Vertex. They will send a part out. I know since I bought an impeller from them not too long ago.

I have had nothing but issues getting in touch with vertex...I love the look of their stuff but just assume I have to replace it if I have any problems with it.

Interesting....... I have the Vertex Omega 180i on my Reefer 450. After reading this thread I decided to call the U.S. distributer. A gentlemen answered the phone and I asked if I was able to buy a new pump or impeller from them if God forbid I ever needed it. They said they were able to get parts no problem. I had no problems with customer service.
You could order a new pump or impeller, or both for that matter........just as a redundancy in case of a failure; if your really concerned about parts availability. I always keep a main back up return pump (same model) in case one poops out. I also have a secondary heater new in box and a Vortech MP40 (wet side only) just in case. |

I too have talked with Adam and he was very responsive and timely. I have an older IN-100 and the magnet has finally swollen to the point that the impeller won't spin. Adam recommended a new pump as replacement parts are no longer available through them.
I sure wish I could buy a new impeller for my original pump. I loved the way it sucked the nastiness out of the water. I'm having a hard time with the thought of spending $90+ for a new pump when a new SCA skimmer can be had for $159. |

I bought the alpha 250 from an online vendor a while back when I was planning a larger build and the ozone and air line volutes were broken upon opening of the package. Adam went above and beyond, and exceeded my expectations by sending me all the needed volutes at no additional cost. Replacement parts do exist here in the US. You just need to know who to ask. People should educate and research, or at least do a little more due diligence before making presumptuous statements.
