Went ahead and ordered a high density closed cell neoprene pad in 1/2" thickness for under the sump. Thanks again.

Quick question. Any thoughts on tightening 2" bulkheads? I've got six to install between the ghost overflows and the sump. The nut is ~ 3.5" and fixed wrenches in that size range are a few hundred dollars on amazon. Not a purchase I would like to make.
Thanks in advance. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

nice tank man, enjoy the build, going to be awesome,
why not use a big pair of channel locks on the bulkheads, put a rag on the nut so you don't mar them up |

Looking good. I would favor the brown laminate sort of like the floors.

With some help from some friends we got the tank mounted on the platform yesterday. It was harder than I thought. One guy almost got his fingers crushed and another guy really hurt his toe. This reeftank thing is dangerous. ☠️
Tools for the job. Some additional slider added. Probably a few too many, but whatever... A couple of action shots. This was at the end making some adjustments and my gluing the two together. The 6" spax screws I used to reinforce the adhesive. And the finished product. The Hayward ball and true union ball valves arrived this week. Looking forward to starting the plumbing as soon as the laminate is done. Thanks for checking in. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Double or Nothing... AJ's 405-Gallon Reef Savvy Upgrade
Today was dedicated to prepping the inside of the stand for two coats of Kilz 2 followed by a topcoat of (yet to be determined).
First step was suspending the sump as it cannot be removed from the stand. Used a pair of ratchet straps and up it went. Back needed some attention as there was still some industrial Velcro, some zip tie tabs and a bunch of salt creep to remove. As you will see from the pic, the PO had a leak at one of the bulkheads on the ghost overflow. I noted when tearing down the tank that it was loose. I used two orbital sanders and sandpaper ranging from 80 to 120 grit. Should be ready for the first coat of Kilz 2 tomorrow. Thanks for checking in. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

My son loves the camp straps. LOL It is amazing how much more difficult tickets when you get into the bigger tanks and how much more you have to think ahead. Looking awesome

Thanks. We camp a lot so the camo kinda fits with the trips
And I'd have to agree, everything takes so much more thought! I hadn't anticipated this being so complex. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

We were able to get the inside of the stand painted today using appliance epoxy paint. It seemed to adhere well and is drying very smooth. We got two coats on and will do a little touching up after 24 hours of cure.
Thanks for looking. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Today was the day!!!
After several incremental improvements, we finally have some palpable progress. Today the team from the cabinet shop came in and re-wrapped the stand. They bought with them the new doors and the redone canopy. Here are a few photos of the finished stand. If you recall, the stand had six doors, which have been replaced with three removable panels. I am very pleased with how it turned out. The only item pending should be resolved tomorrow, which is the two side skirts for the rear, to cover the view of the ghost overflows from the side. I also received the 1/2" closed cell neoprene for under the sump. That should get cut to size and photographed tomorrow as well. Hopefully I can get the plumbing done before Thanksgiving. I took most of next week off, which should help... Thanks! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Thanks Danny. It was a bit of a gamble, especially building the base myself, but it paid off. The carpenter was happy with my build, which increased my confidence in it long-term. Now we pray it holds up lol Thank you very much! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
