nano to large tank
So i have been running a 21 gallon reef tank for just under a year and find myself wanting to go bigger, i am moving in a few months and figured it would be perfect to start collecting the required items. the hardest thing to find is an aquarium (55 gallon) that i can either drill into or is pre-drilled. Where would be a great place to find this.
note:all petco's in my area only sell tetra and aqueous tanks. and my LPS is quite expensive for just tank sales. |

A 55 is not a great choice for a reef tank and most, if not all, are tempered on all sides, meaning you cannot drill it. This is probably why you don't see any that are already drilled.
There are a lot of 4 foot tanks you can go with that can be drilled and are better suited for reefs. 75s and 90s are very popular and regularly available on craigslist. Not sure what your budget is, but that's a good place to start.

If you don't mind a drive, Milwaukee Aquatics has 75G all glass tanks on sale for $100.

I'm in the process of upgrading from a 28G nanoCube to a 120G tank I found on Craigslist.
I started out looking for 90G tanks on Craigslist, then found this 120G (48x24x24) predrilled with dual overflows. I got the tank, stand and canopy for $300 (a lot less than I paid for my Cube a little over a year ago). If you buy used, just make sure you see it setup. You don't want to put a bunch of money and time into a tank that won't hold water, that some scam artist sold you on Craigslist!
