In general it's not one of the items on the menu, but if they saw one dangling out from the LR, and they were remotely hungry; I couldn't see them hesitating on having a midnight snack.

i have seen my humu eat them a lot. when i had a reef tank and fowlr side by side i could pull them out of the reef and drop them in the fowlr and my humu would destroy the bristle worms. they were probably no bigger then 2-3" long.

When fish learn that things dropped in a tank usually are food, no doubt they're gonna eat whatever it is. I had 2 in my tank for years, and with 3 triggers no one has touched them; unfortunately.

Thats true... but I never had bristleworms in my aggressive tanks... even when I move rock around. I think in general triggers will just attack any small moving things in the water.

Old thread. My 4.5" or so Humu just ate bristle worms I was trying to add to "his" tank today.

They were 2-6" in length (no big ones, but not super tiny by any means). He chomped on all but one.

My boss had a longnose hawkfish that consumed them.

I spotted my bristletail filefish/A. tomentosus go after one in QT, and haven't seen one in my display since shortly after adding it.

I definitely think that hawkfish eat them. I don't ever see bristleworms in my reefs and I always have a hawkfish. Prior to adding them, I would occasionally see the bristles. But not afterward. I also think that wrasses (melanurus for sure) will eat these things. Triggers will eat pretty much anything, especially if they are hungry!

I do see the bristleworms in my refugium, where I do not have any fishes (for now). It'll be interesting to see what happens when I add a trigger or two to the fuge.
