New Mag Question

When is a new mag considered “out of the woods” as far as determining if it’s going to make it through the possible infection stage related to collection and shipping? Is there a typical time frame of signs and symptoms? For example, no deflates for first day, first week, two weeks, etc. ?

No deflation after a week or so with no antibiotic, he should continue to do well, especially if he looks well.

IME with gigs and mags, I give them three weeks with no deflation before I consider them "out of the woods". Many times, they look good after initial introduction to the tank, almost as if they make a effort to inflate with clean water. After that point, it can go either way.

In looking at photos of a newly acclimating nem, the most we can tell you is that it looks good. We can't tell you that it's not infected.

Every camera i have ever used (several pro cameras) still look like that under reef tank blue light. I have a Kellis light on my tank and turn the blue way down for photos, that and a little photoshop work and they look pretty good.
