Love the new stand for the big tank! It looks so clean and great idea on removing the molding. The Peninsula looked great and the 2.2 is so cool as well. Cant wait to see the new build go up!

Please send the cheque to 1234 Reefers Haven, Canada lol
I've slowed down lately with the tank. I just have so much on my plate.
But this weekend is looking good

As for the stocking list, I want lots of tangs obviously from the length but I dont want to have to worry about P04 and Nitrates so I might limit them.

In my frag tank I have the following fish that will make it their new home for sure.

Tail spot blennies x 2
Desardini Sailfin
Picasso clown pair

As for the rest of the fish I have a few different schools of thought.

1- Add another 1-2 large fish(Achilles and Sargassum trigger) and fill the rest in with small fish and possibly a school of cardinals. The clear ones with the red spot. I can't remember the species. You know what I'm talking about?

2- Just add lots of wrasses, small gobies and a school of cardinals(same as above)

3- Just go fishing every week and let my daughter and wife pick out the fish

Thank you. I'll try to add more pics of the past tanks. I enjoy looking at them as well. It helps with the new build as I always find things that I could have done better.

For Dtum

Here is what I'm dealing with for the floor drains.

Sorry for the over exposure, not going to PP

Open and you will see. This cover will be modified after I get the pipes runs.

That's all for now.

Not to derail the thread but what is this marine pure about any more info do I just simply place it in my fuge instead of live rock or cheato?

No problem, sorry it took so long.

The plan is to run 4x1" pipes.
3 drains and 1 return.

My idea is to run the bean animal setup. 2 for the main drain. The emergency drain will be teed to my maintenance sink with a valve so i can siphon the sand bed upstairs and drain it downstairs right into the drain. I'm not sure how I plan on starting the siphon, but if i run the hose down the E-drain and put the other end in front of a power head, it might be enough to start the siphon???
I just don't want to lug around buckets of water anymore. I'm uber lazy

You know what I mean, or did i just confuse the F out of you? lol.

Thank you so much for your compliments. It's truly our dream home on a modest budget.

As for the Marine pure. I've not had a chance to research it. But thanks for the reminder, I got side tracked. Where can I get this stuff? How much is it? How much would you recommend I need for my system?
120DT >> 110Sump >> 75 frag tank

Would you say your tank has a high bioload? Maybe a fish list? I guess it need time to seed like marco rocks?

Sorry for all the questions, but I like the idea of Marine pure.

-dan

dan, stoked you went with the reeflo pump, I think that you will be happy with your decision. I always like the idea of a frag tank separate from the sump so that you could separate its water supply if the need ever arose.

keep up the great work, your house is beautiful!

No worries. I have way to many fish in my system. About 6 tangs, 3 butterflies and 3 angels
260g total system. Glad I have a skimmer big enough Deltec TC-2560
Google ceramedia marine pure you'll find all the info you need and more.
All I can say it worked for me
I put the 2 blocks about 6 months ago in the sump and they did their job. Nitrates undetectable. And I'm a heavy feeder.
I'm planning on buying the spheres and put them in a SMR1 reactor I have laying around.
The more you put the more beneficial bacteria you'll have. There's no downside on this.
You can find them on EBay. Petco has the best price I've seen so far
Hope it helps.

Thanks man, I'm happy I finally decided on a pump lol. I've always wanted a reeflo. But back in the day Reeflos were consuming way too much wattage for me to consider one. But now I see the wattage has come down alot with the hybrids

Thanks for the reply. I've looked briefly on Ebay and petco and I can't see any products for sale etc. What how much do these things cost?

did a quick search for you:
http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_trks...at=0&_from=R40

http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_no...rds=marinepure

http://www.bulkreefsupply.com/marine...dia-plate.html

http://www.bulkreefsupply.com/marine...2-spheres.html

http://www.petco.com/shop/searchresu...nepure&x=0&y=0

if you buy from petco search for the online coupon codes for 25-30% off and/or free shipping for the best deals.

i'm a big fan of these as well. especially for sump use where they can easily be removed for detritus cleaning of the sump and a lot less settles. also the spheres in the drain section of the sump. good stuff.

you can never really have too much biological filtration so as much as you can fit within the confines of the area you wish to use it without making it cubersome to remove them when you clean out your sump.

yes, i use the spheres in my drain box and use blocks in the main sump area.

Update time!

So I got home from work today at round 3pm. I didn't want to work on my lawn, so I decided to get some work done on the stand!

First off, I started with marking the baseboards for removal.

I used this Dremal tool. I gotta say it's the best tool for this kind of work. It made short work of the task at hand.

Removed

Test fitted, looking pretty good. Just need to paint and dap it.

The hole for my wiring

So here you can see the tank from a few different angles.

Got the foam on the stand as well.

That's all for now. I'm hoping to get the tank onto the stand sometime soon.
I can't wait to see it!

Thanks so much for your compliments.

My wife made it clear to me that the tank has to match the house decor. Besides from all the dust, noise and spending. She's been pretty happy with it.

Thank you!

It's funny you say that because the wife and I spent months going through modern design websites and magazines for inspiration for this remodel.
From all the positive response we've received from friends, family and now fish forums we are quite pleased with everything.

The tank is going to be the icing on the cake imo! I just love the idea of it being the focal point the house. Especially being the first thing you see when entering the home.

I wish I could get some sponsors for the lighting for this tank Ecotech or ATi would be nice

I wish I had the money to do 4 x Radions or 2 36" ATI Power Module hybrids!

The sunpower going to have to do for now Still a great light though.

Thank you for following eh! If you need more info on the remodel, let me know. Houzz is a great site to visit for inspiration Too much inspiration actually.

We decided to do a dark kitchen design and then changed to a white kitchen design. At the end of the day we couldn't decide on a dark or light kitchen, so we ended up with a half dark, half white kitchen design to comprise lol.
At the time it was a very risky and potentially costly mistake if it didn't turn out.
But we are really, really happy with it. Only wish we put skylights in after the fact. And a double oven, and a 36" range, and a built in fridge etc etc lol
