All water change devices need sensors otherwise the unit would not be able to work out without an element of risk the exact water level refill point.

It is possible to do AWC without the sensors, but you do so at your own risk and we do not recommend it.

The sensors will tell the doser when to stop refilling and draining.

I'm currently building a 180g SPS reef tank and I really like the GHL Doser 2. I live in Canada, are there any vendors that you can point me towards for purchasing in Canada?

If I get the stand alone, does it still have the option of being run by a controller as well? Or is it just 100% independent?

I believe there is a FW that will allow you to control with Profilux

A Firmware update will be available in the future to allow the Standalone Doser 2 to be controlled by a ProfiLux.

The Doser 2.1 features new dosing head design, built-in LED indicator lights on each pump, and new style motor. All other features between the 2 and 2.1 remain the same.
