I love my Tunze Wavebox.
They aren't cheap though. Here is a link. http://www.premiumaquatics.com/Merch...ode=Wavemaking

have you looked into the SCWDs?? It will require you to do some plumbing but nothing big. This would be the cheap alternative to buying a Tunze or anything of that sort. I'm a college student to cash is really limited and being cheap is the name of the game.

If you want something that works really well and moves a lot of water, the Tunzes, a Vortech or the new Koralla controllable units. A normal wave maker is not going to do much on a large tank, and they do not work very well with the stream type pumps.

Thank you all for the suggestions and links. I just started looking at them so your input is very helpful. I was trying to get away with not adding so many jets, but keep up water movement. I do not mind spending the money on something that is going to do the job-just not sure what will do the job at this point.
kgross-what do you mean by a normal wave maker? thanks again jolene |

he means like a bunch of maxi jets that plug into a power strip that cuts then on and off
check out what these vortechs can do http://youtube.com/watch?v=rLPmea2II-A

Now that is water movement!! Like I said before I'm still learning so bear with me!! how many vortechs would be needed for a 180 gallon to get that type of "all over the tank" water movement? Maybe I should ask-does the vortech move the water itself, or do your pumps hook up to the vortech?

it moves it itself, I would put 1 on each end, no electricity enters the tank either, the motor stays on the outside and it spins it via the magnets. If you get 2 the wireless controllers will talk to each other and you would set 1 as the master and 1 as a slave. Here is a video of 1 on a 90 gallon. At full power they are putting out 3000 GPH
