New JBJ 28g

Picked up a JBJ 28g with the "Intermediate" Led lights. Transferred over what i could from my 55 that i had to take down.

So far the stocking list isnt much:
One ocellaris clown.
Coral Banded Shrimp
Frogspawn coral
Reeflceaners quick crew - tons of snails and hermits.

I lost my royal gramma and xenia during the move

So far i love the AIO setup. In the media basket i am running cheato, carbon, purigen, and the sponge filter.

The powerhead in the middle is a Koralia Evo 725.. which i found to be too powerful and makes a crazy dust storm, bu does keep all the junk off the sand. I ordered two Koralia nano 425's with the wavemaker to replace the 725. Hopefully that will work out better.

My plans are to keep it mostly a softy tank. Maybe pick up another fish at some point.

hi i am running sponge in my first filter , bio balls , ceramic rings and sponge in the 2nd

i am interested in softies only , i heard ceramic rings should be tossed out as they are a trap for debris , and should i go with filter floss?

thanks

I'd consider dumping the bio balls too. They end up being nitrate traps. People seen to have good success with filter floss.

I'm 99% sure filter wool and floss is the same but not completely positive so hopefully someone else can step in on that. With live rock you will usually have a little die off. What I would do is before your next water change either with a power head or turkey baster blow of the debris on the rick then siphon out as much as possible. Cutting down on that now will help keep your nitrates low from the start.
