If I'll to purchase the 3w cyan, epiLed Red and UV from Aquastyleonline, do have have 60 degree Len available? Or their Len are mean for bridgeLux only?

I would do 48 for sps, and 36 for anything else.
i know 36 will handle sps, but i want you to have a good spread as well.

I am currently torn between the 108 dimmable kit and a 48 cree kit from rapidled. My tank is a standard 90 mixed reef. I have seen a tank with a DIY led in person with incredibly intense disco shadowing. This has me concerned and wondering which kit would minimize this. I'm thinking I may be able to get away with running without lenses with the 108 LED kit, or maybe 60s and keeping it several inches off the water.

I'm looking at picking up the 12 LED kit for my Nanocube 12 gallon. But I think 12 is a bit much, so def need the dimmable ones. What do you all think?

What's the dimensions on the tank? 1 LED per gallon is what I'm running currently... though my new system won't have as many LED's and will be running higher currents. I'm probably going to end up redesigning quite a bit now that I have 3' more tank to cover (2 more pendants). I finally got the rest of the stuff to finish that dimming circuit so I'll hopefully knock that out in a day or two, and then I probably won't even use it myself. I really want a sweeping lighting effect going over the tank and by the time I do 8 different dimming circuits that's 32 pins used up on the arduino. I can rock the meanwell's for only 8 pins and do what I want.
Don't take this as I think the maxwellen drivers are bad. They literally have been flawless for me, steady output and have given me no issues at all. It's just now that I'm building an even bigger setup then what I started with, I have to expand what I personally need out of the controller to meet that. Lighting a 7' tank will be fun

I got a 7'x2'x2' 210 gallon tank that I'll be modding and building a new stand for. Eurobracing it and putting a coast to coast overflow on it. It will be lit by 4 or 5 7x15 LED pendants which will all fade on with different start times to kind of do that rolling sunrise/sunset thing. I probably got a good 2-3 months of work before I actually set it up in the house, but the design has pretty much been finalized.
I'll most likely be going with the eln 60-48's, 2 per heatsink, and dim them with a single PWM line (ground can be common across the drivers). Though since I run more blue's then whites I may change my mind on that and just run the 60-48 on the blues and a smaller driver on the whites so that not only will it fade side to side it will go blue to white too

I have been checking out the leds at aquastyleonline and I am seriously thinking about using them on my 75g. They would be mounted in a canopy that I built. The tank is currently lit by 6 t5's. What what you all recommend that I purchase to have the same amount, or more, of lighting. I can post a pic of the canopy if needed.
Also, I have seen people using c channel as heatsinks. Is it better to use an actual heatsink or are the channel sufficient. Thanks in advance for any input. Last edited by kirtdog; 04/01/2012 at 05:56 PM. |

I would use the 72 LED kit mounted on aluminum U channel and then ventilate your canopy.
Should be easy to mount the U channel in your canopy. |

my current setup is a 75g with the 72 kit on 2 of their 7 x 15 heatsinks. I prefer the clustered approach as it gives a better range of par distribution imho

Ah, maybe I should've posted my question here ... here's a copy and paste from a new thread that I created ... I really hope someone can help me out :-/ ...
Hello everyone, I recently started making my own led fixture. I ordered all the leds and drivers etc from aquastyleonline. Anyway, I'm having some issues with the Meanwell ELN-60-48D drivers that I ordered. On both of them, I am not able to get more than 24V out each ... I tried playing with the SVR1 and SVR2 knobs on both the drivers, but it doesn't seem to be making any difference -- I can bring the current down, but not higher than around 350 mA, and the Voltage goes down when I bring the current down, and maxes out at 24V when I put the current at his highest possible setting. Any ideas what's going on? What are the odds that I got 2 bad pieces? :-/ ... Also one more thing I noticed, as per the specs, if the potentiometer is not connected to the dimming wires, then I should be getting 0V; this is not the case -- for some reason, the potentiometer has 0 effect for me. Lastly, when I unplug the driver from the wall, all the LEDs turn on for a blink second -- I'm guessing this is the capacitors discharging or something, but I figured I'd throw it out there anyway. Any help would be greatly appreciated as I've been banging my head against the wall for the last 4 nights with this problem Thanks! |

Anyone know if their MeanWell LPF-90D-48 is dimmable with the apex? Only got it to dim with a pot.

Yes, one of the 3 options is Dimable via 1~10Vdc which is what the APEX uses .... it shoudl also work with ReefKeeper using the pwm, and a POT . I am thinking of replacing all of my maxwellen with them and use t hem with my controller.

Its says the driver can but how do you do it? right now I can only use the pot. Been trying to figure out how to wire it up for 1-10vdc.

You have an APEX right?, did you make or buy the wire yet for Voltage signal from controller? i just made one out of Cat5, wire it up to your Driver, and it will supply voltage from via RAMP feature in APEX. 1 - 10v or close to it, i ran my Cree's this way in my old rig for over a year and worked perfectly for sun rise and set. I can try to dig up a diagram if you need it?

Here you go bud, this is what i used a while back when wiring my APEX with my ELN-48 60D Which works in same way as your Driver per the notes in manual.
