might be a silly question, but here it goes, is that flamingo reef to put in top of the sand that you already have, or that goes by itself? thanks

I can't speak for the OP but in regards to me asking is because I used a fine grain sand and it is causing one heck of a dust storm. I was going to mix a bag of the flamingo reef in to see if that slows it down a bit. I also have a bare area because the power head decided to blow it around making a crater

Its only silly not to ask. I used all new/dry flamingo reef sand. I will never reuse old sand. Too many problems can come of it.

Yes you could put a larger grain on top of it. The larger pieces will stay on the top of the sand bed. It will still blow around though, just not as much. You may still need to tweek your powerheads some. Maybe point the up towards the surface slightly.

Thanks. I ended up trading in my harlequin shrimp the other day. She did her job of eating all the asterinas out of my tank and sump. I didn't really care to make it a routine to keep buying chocolate chip stars. She went to a buddys home where she will be in a species tank with a possible mate. She sure was a beautiful specimen. I do plan to get a starfish in the future. I used to have an orange Linkia a while back. I think I may get another or mane a mosaic or something. I did get a halloween hermit and a ORA purple polyp birds nest for her. I'll try to get sone decent photos of them tomorrow.

She will be missed, but its good to know she will be taken care of.

So here are the new additions as well as a slightly modified rock scape. I also mounted the lobo on a rock instead of having it in the sand. I'm still not sure if I like it there though.

Halloween Hermit

ORA Purple Polyp Birds Nest
(immediately after mounting)

(today)

New Lobo Location (orange one)

FTS as of today (Rocks in left/front corner are temp. Trying to get my RBTA onto it so I can move it)

Well my Orchid Dottyback has been missing for a few days now. No fish on the floor or in sump. I sure hope he's ok. He's definitely a personal favorite. I usually see him everyday at least once.

Got a little photo dump you guys today. I moved a little rock around to have a couple more spots to put some SPS's as well as tidied up the sandbed pieces a bit. I also finally got my RBTA right where I wanted it seems to have settled in nicely.

UN-REAL! Your video was beyond words.

I love the slow moving camera work kind of videos like yours, the best. I don't know what it is about that kind of camera movement, but it's the perfect kind for a reef tank.

Nicely done.

BTW - is the Scooter Blenny as difficult as everyone makes them out to be?

Thanks for the kind words! They are Ruby Red Dragonets, and from what I've heard they can be difficult to keep. My pair gladly except prepared foods like prawn roe and reef chili. As with most mandarins they can be tricky to wean onto prepared food, most will only eat live pods. The scooter blennies are by far an easier dragonet to get to eat prepared foods. Once fully acclimated and settled in/eating, they are pretty hardy fish IME.

It's been a while since I bought it and the stuff lasts me a long time. I bought it from a LFS which is no longer in business anymore. It is nutramar ova which I have heard a while back that due to production it can be hard to get ahold of, not sure if its like that any more though. I hope its available when I need some more though! All my fish love it, especially my dragonets.

So here is what my new gem is looking like this morning!

Acropora microclados

Also saw this little guy rummaging around this morning. It's been a while since he's been after from his molt a couple days ago.

Halloween Hermit
